Overview

This is a cycling guided tour in which participants ride an electric bicycle and hear the story of the reconstruction of the bombed heritage sites and how we are trying to protect peace in the city of Hiroshima. The tour is led by a friendly team from Hiroshima. This tour is an English guided tour. ・Learn about local feelings towards the Peace Park from about 70 years ago. ・The area within a 2.5km radius from the hypocenter was severely damaged. We are heading to multiple bombed heritage sites that still remain. ・You will ride a comfortable electric bicycle to the local area, which is not only known for the Hiroshima Peace Museum. ・We will take you to unique places well-known by the local Japanese team. ・We will ride along the beautiful riverside and in the park to get an idea of the destruction of Hiroshima at that time and how it has changed into what it is now.

    [12:00/16:00] Did you know that there is still a train running today that survived the atomic bombing, known as the A-Bombed Streetcars?The guide will show you the actual townscape of Hiroshima in the suburbs away from the touristic area. You will find beautiful Hiroshima vigorously revived from the tremendous damages by the atomic bombing while visiting numerous A-bomb heritage sites and listening to the episodes handed down in Hiroshima.

    [13:00/ 17:00] The tour finishes at the meeting point. *You will be given data of the photos taken on the day. *If you wish, we can also guide you to the Atomic Bomb Museum. (Additional hour, plus 3,000 yen cash payment on the day. Not possible when combined with other guests, only from 11:00 to 13:00) *The timetable may change depending on the situation on the day.

  • Children's bicycle (cross bike type): 2 Children's bicycles* for one booking are available. Children under age 15 can use both children's bicycles and adult bicycles at child rate.
  • Bicycle with seat for infants (electric) and Children's bicycle (cross bike type) are limited, so please contact us before making a reservation if you wish.
  • Bicycles with seats for children (electric) are for children under 22 kg and under 115 cm. A baby trailer can accommodate two children at the same time, but since the maximum load capacity is 45 kg, each child must weigh less than 18 kg when riding in the cart at the same time.
  • If the number of seats for infants and children's bicycles are full reserved, children of heights who cannot use adult bicycles may not be able to participate. After making a reservation, we will contact you after checking the stock of the bicycle.

  • Rainy Day Limited Peace Route (same price as the regular plan) ; A walking tour around the actual scenery and reconstruction that happened in the center of the Hiroshima Peace Park; Visit the hypocenter, which was reduced to scorched earth in an instant. Walk around the site with a radius of about 0.5 km to 1 km.

Impressions of the Hiroshima 2-Hour Peace Cycling Tour with a Local Guide

I was guided by Philippe Moe. The couple from Australia who joined us on the tour were very nice, and Moe was considerate of everyone as we proceeded, so I was able to have a good time. She guided us while telling us stories about her grandparents, so the scenes that conveyed the lives and thoughts of the people in Hiroshima city after the atomic bombing felt real and touching. It was my first time to visit the warped windows of the Atomic Bomb Hospital and the Hiroshima Electric Railway tram depot, and it was very moving. If you have the opportunity, I would definitely recommend her as a guide! Thank you so much!

A deeply touching tour by Shin

A really amazing experience presented by Shin! This tour was really amazing as we got to hit all the major memorials in the peace park and learn the significance and stories of the memorials, and our tour guide was specifically very special since his grandparents lived through the bombing. Hearing the stories about someone who was so closely connected to this experience and learning about the experiences of his close relatives was truly touching. The bikes were electric so minimal effort was required, and this tour could really be undertaken by anyone- don’t let the fact that its bikes deter you. Thank you Shin for an amazing tour!
