Overview

The tour will start next to the presidents office and we will end by the San Cristobal hill, as we walk we will stop in different landmarks to explain current and past importance, some of this buildings/places are La Moneda Palace (presidents office) the ex congress, Plaza de Armas, Santa Lucia hill lookout, etc. This tour is for 10 people max, they can all be together or separate as this is not a private tour (unless you want it to be private we can talk) I have done this for over 11 years, i have a degree in tourism and also i went to school in the downtown area (i know the area extremely well) i also have a couple of extras courses on heritage and history. You will learn about our history, both current and past with insight and personal feedback of the current and past state of the country!

Itinerary

  • Santiago

    We will walk from La Moneda Palace (start) until San Cristobal Hill entrance, because of this we will spend some time walking, normally the tour lasts in between 3 hours to 4 hours (some people walk fast and some people are not that fast :P) Just making this very clear to avoid confusions. As we walk we will stop in all the places mentioned below ;)

  • La Moneda

    Former mint-house of the Spanish crown and today is our government palace/presidents office (we dont go inside)

    45 minutes

  • Ex Congreso Nacional

    Former congress building from the mid 1800s with an amazing Neo classical architecture (no visit allowed in here)

    20 minutes

  • Plaza de Armas

    Main square of Santiago (point 0 of the city) the "Damero", square layout that the spanish brought into the new world, starts on plaza de armas as the main and biggest square of the city, from here we grow everywhere with this layout. In here we go to the main cathedral (if it is open) and see the buildings around the area

    30 minutes

  • Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts

    Amazing museum with both National and International art, build to celebrate our 100 years of independence.

    10 minutes

  • Espacio M

    Espacio M is currently a shopping mall, back in the day was a grand palace from a wealthy family, circa 1846

    20 minutes

  • Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral GAM

    Amazing cultural center with lots of activities everyday all year round (movies, theater, music, exhibitions, etc) and with a very cool background and history

    15 minutes

  • Cerro Santa Lucia

    Back in the day this hill was the main watchpost in the city (both Natives and Spanish used this hill with the same purpose) today is a beautiful park with a very nice lookout of the city and mountains (not opened on mondays theres a plan B for this day))

  • Casa Museo La Chascona

    1 of the 3 houses that Pablo Neruda (nobel prize winner in literature) has in Chile!

    10 minutes

  • Cerro San Cristobal

    Cerro San Cristobal (inside the metropolitan park) a great park with a lot of attractions, the most known one is the actuall Hill, but no the only one ;D This will be the end of the tour (we dont go up the hill)

  • Bellavista

    Amazing neighborhood with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and the San Cristobal Hill!

    15 minutes
