Hello, my name is Abdou. I am a Moroccan person food lover grew up between the old medina and the wonderful beach of ESSAOUIRA. I have learned the basic of the cooking from my mother when i was child , And thats give the opportunity to work as a shef in many restaurants in many cities in Morocco I would love to share with you everything about my culture , especially food and drink if you are interested in learning how to make a tradutional moroccan tajine or any kind of moroccan food or if you are looking for the secrets of the moroccan food and culture, this experience is the right for you IT WILL BE A HONOR FOR ME TO SHARE ALL OF MY KNOWLEDGE WITH YOU SEE YOU SOOOON!

Itinerary

We will meet in frant of bab doukkalla thanWe will start by shopping in the market where the locals buy the freshest ingredients. We will purchase meat, pastries, vegetables, and spices from my friends at the shops. You can choose your ingredients for the tajine – either beef, lamb, chicken, fish, or vegetarian. *If you would like fish , please let me know beforehand, so I can prepare it. Then we will head to my home, where I will make the traditional Moroccan mint tea and we will prepare the food and cook together. See you soon

The experience was fantastic! Abdou was a great teacher and it was lovely to be welcomed into his home. The tagine was incredible and it was great to learn more about Moroccan culture and traditions.

Relaxed cooking lesson with Abdou

We had a really fun time on this cookery class with Abdou. This is the first time we have tried a trip like this on holiday but will definitely do it again. We had booked in advance of our holiday. Abdou contacted us by WhatsApp the day before our booking to confirm arrangements. The time was changed from Sunday evening to Monday mid morning but this was fine - it suited us better. It also meant we were joined by 3 other travellers which made the experience less intense for just the two of us. We met Abdou in the market. First we chose a chicken. This was prepared for us very swiftly and expertly by the butcher whilst we bought veg with Abdou. Abdou also got us some spices to take home. Back at his house we prepared and cooked 3 tagines - chicken with preserved lemons, a lamb tagine and a vegetable tagine. Whilst they cooked we had mint tea and chatted. The tagines were really tasty. Overall it was a very good experience and Abdou is an excellent host. Would highly recommend. We now feel confident to use our tagine at home.

Our family of 4 enjoyed How to be a Moroccan chef with Abdul. He put us at ease straight away visiting the market and then returning to his apartment to cook 2 great tagines. Really lovely food and absolutely excellent company with great conversation. Would thoroughly recommend.

Expect to visit a vibrant market(with live chickens), then on to your chefs home. Abdou was our chef he was friendly and showed us how to make a traditional tajine which we ate in his home. He served us tea and entertained us. It was a relaxed sociable evening with delicious food. I enjoyed every minute of it
