Our tour guide, Valerio, provided us with an outstanding visit to several of the sites referenced in the books and provided interesting background and tidbits on the site and its relationship to Brunetti. He helped us to really “see” Venice from the perspective of Brunetti’s Venice. He was thoroughly entertaining and provided a wealth of tidbits on Venice itself. We’ve been to Venice several times and we really learned a lot of interesting facts. The sites we visited only encompassed a few of the books, but it was well worth it!

Awesome tour with Valerio. Interesting to learn that the number of murders in Venice is two in 15 years is two. Then Donna Leon must have covered all murders in a century (-;

This was a great opportunity to walk the streets of Venice, away from most of the tourist spots and see where the locals walk, and eat and shop through the experience of local Venetian Valerio and Donna Leon's Police Commissioner Brunetti book sites. While walking we saw Brunetti's office, the State Police Station, his office view, the local patsticceria Rosa Salva where he stops for coffee, and the palatial home of his in-laws, now used for art shows and many more book sites. We learned about the history of many other Venice sites and the daily threat of the rising and falling water levels from the lagoon. A tour that should not be missed and one that can be done again and again as Valerio's endless knowledge of Venice is personal and current, so we will gladly book it on our next trip to Venice!

I spent last September on a two week art tour in Venice, and on this trip did a lot of art Biannale things, so my Donna Leon walking tour with Valerio showed me a different side of Venice. It’s been a while since I’ve read the books, and if you are a huge fan with places in them you’d like to see, mention those specifically. I just enjoyed various scenes from various books and Valerio’s enthusiasm.
