Absolutely brilliant tour with Ian. Excellent English and incredible knowledge. The tour was bespoke and we felt really catered for. We went over the time limit but Ian was not worried at all and more than happy for this to happen. We also felt Ian handled what could have been very awkward subject matter in a personable and friendly way; it must be hard to get the balance right but he judged it perfectly. He also tailored the tour for us and we ended up at our relatives' Stoloperstein. We can't recommend Ian strongly enough.

Impressive is RIGHT! We absolutely loved our private tour of Jewish Hamburg with Ian. He is so knowledgeable! He knew so much about everything—the history of Hamburg (both Jewish and non) as well as present-day Hamburg and Germany in general. I have no doubt that he could fill 5 hours of touring and still not impart all of his knowledge! His English is amazing. He speaks on a native level. What really brought the tour to the next level for us was that he has “lived” Jewish Hamburg himself, having participated in the Jewish community on many different levels — religious, cultural and academic. Not to be missed!

Ian knows his stuff. He presented a wide variety of facts with the sprinkling of witty comments. Through the tour, his personality shone through, which made his presentation even more engaging. Through the facts in his presentation, Ian gave us the panorama of the human story of the Jews of Hamburg. Finally, we appreciated a humanist note in his stories and insights.

Ian gave an impressive, informative overview of the Jewish community at a moments notice. He was so accommodating to my very tight schedule and meet up location. I was so impressed that I will be booking another tour with him! Thank you, Ian!!

Ian Shulman arrived on time. He was extremely well informed and has a very pleasant way about him. He gave us a very good insight into the Jews of Hamburg and told most interesting and humorous anecdotes of some famous Jewish businessmen. He also recommended a restaurant after the tour which was excellent. We would highly recommend him. Thank you Ian..
