Overview

For the day time tour, you will reach Korean Folk Village around 10:30am and explore the traditional Korea. Enjoy the plays and performance in the village. After that, will reach the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, walk along the fortress walls and visit the gates and watchtowers along. Finally will head to the Suwon Nammun Market where you can find the local restaurants and food stalls there. Also, you can have a look of the local traditional market. Will head back to Seoul around 4:10pm. For the night time tour, will have a late departure at around 1-2pm From Aug to Sep , we will first visit Hwaseong Fortress and then head to the Korean Folks Village for the evening festival and special events performance. And for Oct, will first visit Koreann Folk Village and enjt the media artshow in Suwon Hwaseong area. Will head back and arrive Seoul around 10pm for the night tour.

Korean Folk Village

**Duration maybe various with night tour.** Korean Folk Village introduces traditional culture from the late Joseon period to both local and international visitors through cultural classes experience, shaman faith, seasonal customs and others. Also, the village shows various places with unique features such as a farming village, private house, official districts, Confucian academy, seodang (village school), and a village street in realistic descriptions, as well as, a nobleman’s house and traditional workshop. Performances including Nongak (farmer’s music), martial art on horseback, traditional wedding ceremony, and other special events are available by season. In particular, ‘Welcome to Joseon’, held every May, is a performance featuring time travel back to the olden days.

**Duration maybe various with night tour.** Suwon Hwaseong is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Suwon, South Korea. It was built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo as a fortress and palace complex. The fortress walls span almost 6 kilometers and are dotted with four gates and a number of watchtowers. You can walk along the walls, explore the palace buildings, and enjoy cultural performances and events held within the site.

Fun Suwon Experience

It was a wonderful trip to Suwon with our guide Mr.Jonnathan Kim who explained the history of Korea at the folk village and the fortress wall with fun little personal anecdotes.

Although the weather was not the best (it was raining a lot), our guide Jonathan Kim managed to make the most of it. We had a great time in the folk village and he explained to us a lot of interesting things about Joseon culture. The Hwaseong fortress light show was cancelled due to the rain, but we had a good time in the Chicken Street instead. Overall, a tour a would recommend if you want to visit the impressive Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon and a Folk village. He even took a lot of beautiful pictures for us to remember the day ^^. Thank you!

Good for checking out traditional Korean sights

Sally was a great tour guide, she kept a nice leisurely pace and gave us plenty of time to rest if needed. She was knowledgeable and showed us good highlights of the tour sights. I wouldn’t recommend this for young children, it may get boring for them as the kids in our group had a hard time with sitting still or keeping the tour audio earbuds in their ears and would just wander.

The folk village is an excellent choice to explore, enjoy and eat Korean food. Suwon fortress was amazing. The place is a good place for family since it has picnic area along water stream with an amusement park for children.

An informative and worthy experience

Overall, my wife and I really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very informative and friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect in the village but I thought it would be a functioning village where people lived. It was more like an outdoor museum. Not saying I was misled or anything like that, I either didn't read enough or just made my own assumption. But still enjoyed the history and looking at the old buildings. I would recommend bringing sunscreen and an umbrella for the fortress tour if it's summer. It was very hot with a lot of full sunlight. Last thing has more to do with visiting Korea in general, download the Papago app to help with translating. It has been incredibly useful for our visit in general and really helpful at the market at the end of this tour.
