I have to say I got super lucky and ended up being the only person on my tour. Kudos to the tour company for not cancelling or watering down my experience at all. Yuumi was my tour guide and she was the most sweet, kind and knowledgeable person ever. She took me to three different food/drink places with short stops on the way. The first place was an izakaya with a fantastic assortment of delicious Japanese foods that most American would be unfamiliar with. The second stop was a sake bar where I sampled a number of different types of sake along with information about each. The third was a famous whiskey bar run by an owner who loves to share his passion for whiskey. Yuumi also had these very cute and informative drawings that she used to explain various details. You may likely not get essentially a free private tour but you will definitely enjoy this experience.

Sayaka was a great guide, and brought a great attitude to the tour. She facilitated our group’s chemistry while simultaneously explaining interesting facts about Kyoto. The Izakaya she brought us to was lovely, and upon trying to go back the next day (while travelling solo, which may have been the problem, in addition to being a foreigner) I was denied entry despite there clearly being open seats at the bar. It is understandable that this particular izakaya may have been trying to maintain its local vibe, so just know that this might be the only way to get to this Izakaya if you are travelling solo as a non-Japanese national. I would recommend!

Sayaka was a brilliant tour guide, knew so much about the area and all the bars we visited, brought us to where the locals drink which was cool to see. Would recommend 10/10

Sayaka was the best tour guide. Friendly, full of information and a really nice person for the group to chat with. She explained everything well, she was very inviting and made the entire experience fun.

Tiga was a great host Good english and very funny He let us introduce ourselve which broke the ice. The izakayas were great Good food nice drinks and the end was spectacular. Best whiskybar in town Great music and we all drank and had a excellent time. Great people in the group as well I think Tiga was a great part of the fun and atmosphere that was created Definitely book thus tour, especially with Tiga
