Overview

Discover the magic of lake Zurich! We’ll tour the northern part of the lake close to Zurich: we’ll start off in Wollishofen and head towards Enge and the Old Town. First, we’ll pass the Lion statue by Enge harbor, then we’ll stop by the famous and lit Aquaretum fountain to take some photos. 10 minutes later we’ll enter the Limmat river by going under the Quaibrücke before reaching the Grossmünster on the right and the Fraumünster on the left, our half-way mark. Here we’ll marvel at the spectacle of lights. On the way back to Wollishofen we’ll enjoy the views of the Zurich Gold and Silver coasts on either side of us. If you are interested, you will be able to experiment steering the boat and learn about navigation at night. Please make your own arrangements to and from the base in Wollishofen or simply add a transfer. The timing is an example. Please contact us for a different time.

As you walk into Forellenweg from Seestrasse, head straight on to reach the boat ramp and the small pontoon to its left. We will be waiting for you there.

    Lake Zurich. Formed by the river Linth and itself originating from meltwater of Glarus Alps glaciers in the South, the water exits through the river Limmat in Zurich. Fun fact: lake Zurich last froze up in 1963 and this happens only three times per century on average. Its water is so clean and potable that it is fed into the Zurich city water system after only minimal purification.

  • Wasserspiel Aquaretum

    Aquaretum. The fountain just outside Enge harbor was designed by artist Andres Bosshard and built by Fischer Architects in 2019 as an update to the previous fountain. It consists of 12 tilted nozzles arranged in a circle producing jets reaching up to 35 m. The jets are directly driven by the weather and by seismic activity worldwide as recorded by ETH Zurich. At dusk and on public holidays LED lights give the fountain a special accent.

  • Limmat

    Limmat river. It starts in Zurich and flows in a northwesterly direction for 35 km where it joins the Aare. It is a popular bathing spot for locals. In history, travels from Zurich to Koblenz took place as far back as the 12th century.

    Grossmünster. This is one of the four largest churches in the city and forms part of Evangelical Reformed Church. It was inaugurated in 1220 and commissioned by Charlemagne.

Wonderful experience

We are a family of five from Canada and we took the Mini boat tour on Lake Zurich on our final evening in Zurich. It was the perfect way to wind up our visit. Erik, the captain and guide of the boat, was supercool, conversing with us, pointing out interesting places and buildings on the shoreline, telling us interesting stories, but most importantly, Erik let my children drive the boat, and not just for two minutes. My two youngest captained the boat for almost the entire trip and they were in heaven, a definite highlight for them. Erik was also very accommodating. We didn't want to do the night trip but instead a sunset trip and we started one and one-half hours earlier than the "night tour". It was great fun, the boat is new and of very high quality, the captain the perfect captain, and the setting, well, Zurich Switzerland from the viewpoint of the lake. Highly recommended.

The evening boat tour was the highlight of a wonderful day in Zurich! Erik was a perfect host. He provided transportation to / from our hotel and his stories were informative and charming. Once we were in the water, the tour showcased the magic of Lake Zurich at sundown. We toasted the sunset with refreshments that Erik provided and asked Erik at least a hundred questions, which he patiently answered. Our 30-something daughter and son-in-law LOVED the opportunity to drive the boat under Erik's supervision. The videos of their driving will be precious family memories for years to come. Highly recommend the "My Swiss Lake Tour". It is terrific.
