My fiancé booked the luxury whale watching tour. A shuttle picked us up from the hotel lobby and took us to the harbor. It was pretty quick and easy. They take you to there office on the harbor. It’s where you check-in for your tour. There is AC, souvenir shop, bathrooms, a cafe and you can watch dolphins through the windows.
Our guide, Jacob, called us over when it was time for the tour. He walked us over to the harbor and took our 2nd drink order. The first drink is mimosa or juice. You get it as you board. There is no shoes on the boat. They keep it for you in a basket when you board or you can keep it in your bag. There are limited seats next to the captain on the second floor, but plenty of padded seats on the front of catamaran. I recommend taking off your socks as the catamaran boat rocks and can get slippery with socks.
Jacob was a great guide! He had lots of energy and has a true passion for the job. He also has a lot of whale facts and stories. He mentioned Cabo adventures is the only group that is legitimate with govt and keeps a legal distance from the whales. The boat would stop often and we would all look out to the distance to see the first spout of water. Patience is key. As we waited in the water floating around, we were lucky to see the whale breach right in front of us.
Our captain was Eric. Didn’t see him much but he was working hard to get us to the right spots. We got to see 3 whales in total on multiple occasions. The whale even breached and jumped out of the water twice. He also used this under water microphone so that we could hear the whale singing.
Photographer was Eric and bartender was Pablo. The drinks kept coming. Great service. Stick with simple drinks. Photos were great quality and you can purchase after the tour. Eric also had whale photos that he will include if you purchase. I got really lucky and a few families on the boat took turns to help each other take photos. I was really happy with them so I did not end up buying any from the photographer.
Food was light and tasty. We had a 11am tour for 2 and 1/2 hours. It was right before lunch. They gave us a bento box for every 2 people. It include 3 sandwiches cut in half, fruit, and chips and guacamole. As we were heading back to the harbor we saw some sea lions. When we docked, we were given back our shoes and a chocolate truffle. They walk you back to purchase photos and use restroom. If you purchased the shuttle ride, you can wait at the check in building for the next shuttle. Highly recommend booking with Cabo adventures.
