Overview

Our 4x4 adventure begins in Câmara de Lobos, a charming fishing village nestled between cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean, which inspired Winston Churchill. We follow winding roads to Ribeira Brava, where the 16th-century Church of São Bento stands out, offering stunning views of the ocean. Next, we reach Ponta do Sol, the sunniest spot on the island, surrounded by dramatic cliffs. We ascend to Paul da Serra, Madeira’s only plateau, often shrouded in fog, which contrasts with the lush coastal areas. Descending, we reach Porto Moniz, famous for its natural lava pools. Along the coast, Ribeira da Janela enchants with its basalt columns. In Seixal, we admire the black sand beach and natural pools with crystal-clear waters. We finish at Cabo Girão Skywalk, with breathtaking views, before toasting Madeira’s rich winemaking tradition at Henriques & Henriques winery, ending an unforgettable day.

Itinerary

  • Camara De Lobos

    After Pick up we will have the first stop at Miradouro do Pico da Torre where you can enjoy the wonderful bay of Câmara de lobos, followed by an off road.

  • Quinta Grande (Pass By)

    After the first stop we continued our journey to Ribeira Brava

  • Ribeira Brava (Pass By)

    Ribeira Brava is known for its extensive valley, discovered in the 15th century, with excellent weather for bananas and sugar cane.

    After leaving Ribeira Brava, we will pass through Ponta de Sol to admire the village that was an important landmark for exports at the end of the 19th century. After that, we will stop for coffee, toilet and anything else that customers may need.

  • Pico Ruivo do Paul da Serra

    Paul da Serra is the only plateau on the island. Located at approximately 1500 meters above sea level, it is home to valuable fauna and flora and offers an unobstructed view, making it one of the unmissable points of interest on our island.

  • Porto Moniz

    We stop at Porto Moniz for lunch, where you can stroll and enjoy one of the most beautiful places on our island.

  • Praia Da Ribeira Da Janela

    We will have a wonderful stop in Ribeira da Janela with a path towards a small cave where you will have a splendid panoramic view of the blue Atlantic.

  • Cabo Girao

    At 580 meters high, Cabo Girão is the highest promontory in Europe, but that's not the only reason it has become increasingly famous all over the world. Its viewpoint, with the famous suspended glass platform — called skywalk — is currently one of the most visited (and certainly most photographed) tourist attractions in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos and the Madeira archipelago.

    At the end of the day, we return to Câmara de Lobos to the Madeira wine factory, where we will have a tasting of the 4 delicious Madeira wines, where the local employees will explain everything.

Miguel was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide. A very easy going and relaxed tour to parts of the Island we would not have visited ourselves. We liked the fact that it was a 4x4 tour which felt much more personal than a bus tour. Miguel spent time explaining history behind names of places and areas. He was happy to answer questions and was concerned that we were enjoying the trip. No request was ever "too stupid" and I feel if it was possible he would have done it. There was no pressure at any of the places we visited and we managed to fit in many stops to look at beautiful scenery and views, including a lovely coffee shop of his recommendation which definitely was worth it. There was also quite a few little "back roads/shortcuts" which showed even more the real Madeiran way of living.
