Well wonder no more as you can find out where J.K. Rowling got inspiration for the locations in her books, by coming on this Boy Wizard Tour. Join your tour guide who is a self confessed nerd and huge fan of the wizarding world as he guides you around Edinburgh, telling you about the history and inspiration for some of the most notable places in Harry Potter.

Itinerary

  • Edinburgh City Chambers

    Here you will learn about J.K. Rowling and her life before she became a very successful writer. You will also be able to gaze upon her handprints on the ground outside of the city chambers, and see if your hand fit in hers. A perfect photo opportunity

  • Mercat Cross

    Here you will learn about the significance of the Unicorn to Scotland and the role it plays in the famous books. You will also be told about other mystical creatures and their influence on Scotland and why J.K Rowling used these as inspiration.

  • The Balmoral

    As we gaze over at the famous Balmoral Hotel, your guide will tell you about the time J.K. Rowling spent 6 months here and why. You will also learn about the inspiration for The Ministry of Magic and even Gringotts Bank, before being taken to New College, the school of divinity and you maybe able to enter into the courtyard of Hogwarts itself.

  • Edinburgh Castle

    With the impressive structure of the castle looming behind you, your guide will tell you about the infamous witch trials and why they are so important to the wizarding world. They will also explain why Edinburgh Castle plays a role to The Boy Wizard. You will also get a beautiful view of the south side of the city as you look over to Hogwarts, or at least the building that inspired the school.

  • Victoria street

    Now we will walk down the street that inspired one of the most famous streets in writing, Diagon Alley. Here you will get to see the official Harry Potter shop, and even where to try Butterbeer. You will also get to see the shop that inspired The Weasleys Joke shop. A fantastic opportunity for photos here on Edinburgh's most Instgramed Street.

  • Greyfriars Kirk

    Enter into the cemetery that inspired the names for the characters for Harry Potter. You will see the graves for people who gave name to some of the most famous witches and wizards in the world. Before ending the tour next to the statue that inspired one of the most loyal beings in the wizarding world.
