Overview

With our gastronomic tour in Modena you can immerse yourself in the local gastronomic tradition accompanied by a local expert, a person who lives in the place and who knows all the secrets and curiosities about it, with whom you can discover the restaurants/eateries and the most hidden places, frequented only by locals. Here is a list of your possible tastings! - Platter of cold cuts and cheeses accompanied by an excellent glass of Lambrusco. - Tortellini: in broth or filled with pumpkin, with balsamic vinegar and a sprinkling of Parmigiano Reggiano, they are the first-course par excellence in Modena. - Crescentine modenesi: also known as tigelle, are typical Modenese focaccias, made with a mixture of flour, lard, yeast and water. They are typically filled with cold cuts. - Tasting of balsamic vinegar. - Ice cream or Torta Barozzi.

    Our tour begins in the heart of the city, at the most important square in Modena, a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the charm and history of this vibrant city.

  • Mercato Albinelli (Pass By)

    Next, we pass by the Albinelli Market, a covered market in the historic center of Modena. This iconic site, considered a national monument, offers a glimpse into the city’s culinary heritage, with its bustling stalls full of fresh local produce and traditional delicacies.

  • Duomo di Modena (Pass By)

    After savoring a platter of typical cold cuts, we head toward our first stop, where we will indulge in the world-famous Modenese tortellini—small, delicious parcels of pasta filled with rich, flavorful ingredients.

  • Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini (Pass By)

    Our third stop brings us to Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini, where we’ll enjoy crescentine modenesi—savory, fried dough pockets that pair perfectly with local cold cuts. It’s a treat that captures the essence of Modena’s food culture.

  • Palazzo Comunale di Modena (Pass By)

I have participated in many food tours across countries such as Japan, the USA, the UK, Vietnam, and many more, but this one has likely been the best at combining food, history, and information about the destination. Eugenio was fantastic and extremely engaging to listen to!

Our guide Darren was so fun and full of knowledge on Balsamic Vinegar and on Modena. If we could have kept his service all day, that would have been fantastic but only a 2.5 hour tour. LOVE IT!

We had a wonderful Modena Food Tour with Eugenio! We started with a balsamic vinegar tasting followed by a visit to the central market. The market was spectacular and vibrant and the meat and cheese selection delicious. Next was a pasta tasting and the one of the best gelatos we had on an 18 day trip to Italy. We would definitely recommend this food tour to others in the quaint town of Modena, a quick day trip from a lot of cities in Italy.

This was an outstanding and probably our favorite food experience in Italy. Eugenio was an amazing guide both with his knowledge and selection of foods for us to sample as well as his curiosity about us and our interest in food.. Modena is a lovely city with delicious food!!
