Overview

The tour starts at 20:00 from the hotel in Sharm and takes about 3 hours by coach to reach Moses Mountain. The climb to the top of Mount Sinai starts at night and takes about 750 steps to reach the summit. It takes around 4 hours. At the summit, you can enjoy the panoramic view of sunrise. After we will descend towards St. Catherine Monastery it takes about 2-3 hours. We will stay around 2 hours on a monastery tour, The monastery has a mosque built in the eleventh century and an Orthodox Greek monastery within its walls that rests a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures. Inside the church also are boxes that contain the body of Saint Catherine. In addition, on the other side of the church, you can find the holy valley, which is considered the most holy area in Sinai. In this place, God ordered prophet Moses to “off your shoes because you stand in the holy land”. After that we will go back to the hotel in about 1 PM.

Mount Sinai is a mountain on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt. It is also known as Jabal Musa. It is a 2,285-metre (7,497 ft), moderately high mountain near the city of Saint Catherine in the region known today as the Sinai Peninsula. It is surrounded on all sides by higher peaks in the mountain range of which it is a part. For example, it lies next to Mount Catherine which, at 2,629 m or 8,625 ft, is the highest peak in Egypt.

Organized pretty good, everything was on time. Climbing the mountain was a bit hard, but bedouins were very helpful all the way to the top and back. Not a lot of time was left at the monastery, if you are planning to explore it. Defenitly once in a lifetime experience!

Unique experience

How to summarize this trip: an exhausting but unforgettable experience. The road to the top is tiring (as it is also at night)... being able to experience the sunrise is a unique experience. The way back down is also worth it, just because of the sun that plays with the environment. The professional guidance makes it complete. A tip: take a headlamp with you.

We went on a trip to Mount Sinai with Said. Everything was perfectly on time, and we managed to reach the summit before sunrise. The view was worth every single step we took. The entire hike totaled about 30,000 steps, but both my girlfriend and I managed it without any issues. The climb was surprisingly easy. We didn’t experience any wind at all (December), but regardless of the conditions, you’ll need to put on an extra sweatshirt or jacket at the last two stops. Greetings! Mateusz
