I have been to several luau over the past few years and this experience was beyond my expectations!
From the start, there was such a warm welcome and lei greeting, and THE most incredible dinner buffet I have ever had at any show. The cocktail music was live, beautiful, authentic Hawaiian music, the atmosphere was filled with aloha! Did I mention the food was INCREDIBLE! Crab legs Prime Rib, Hawaiian food, fresh fruit, Asian dishes from Kali-bi and Korean cuisine to sashimi and made to order sushi rolls, pastas, steak dishes, and a dessert bar with chocolate fondue, it was amazing. Hawaii has the most delicious fusion of culture and the best of the best food, and this buffet captured it all. The staff was so polite and hospitality was warm and welcoming.
When the show began, I was amazed from beginning to end by the caliber of the dancers, the beautiful Hawaiian songs, the way the emcee explained each song that gave such an understanding of the culture that makes Hawaii so special, and the energy and sincerity of the dancers, it was truly special. The costumes were beautiful and it was so helpful to have had the adornments highlighted as well as the meaning of the songs to explain the significance of what we were watching that brought even more appreciation for the dances. The men and women were phenomenal dancers and the dances were NOT easy at all! They danced their hearts out and it was a joy to watch.
Being originally from Hawaii but having moved to the mainland seven years ago, it was so special and so refreshing to see an all Hawaiian luau experience. Often you go to shows and get a majority of polynesian dances, which is good too, but it is something truly special to find an all hula show. The difficulty of the dances was inspiring and the dancers executed every one with so much excellence, beauty, and grace. The live music and medleys were like being at Merrie Monarch Hula festival and I am so proud to see true Hawai’i be represented so beautifully.
The audience interaction was so much fun and I left wishing that it lasted even longer. This show is absolutely a “must-see” when going to Hawaii because no where else will you see hula performed like this!
