Amber Palace

Jantar Mantar - Jaipur

There were 5 scientific observatories built in India during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and the one which is still the most-famous is Jantar Manatar Jaipur. It is a scientific observatory which holds 19 astronomical instruments made of stone. The most significant among all them is Samrat Yantra which is the largest sundial of the country. The observatory is located in the heart of Jaipur city and the objective of building it was to measure the distance position and movement of celestial bodies.
