Overview

The park is beautifully manicured, and lined with sculptures donated by many countries, all hoping for lasting peace. Afterwards, make your way through the Hypocenter Park, where you can visualize what the moment of the 1945 atomic bombing was like. Itinerary

Nagasaki Peace Park

Nagasaki Peace Park was finished in 1955, in memorial of the impact of the 1945 atomic bombing of the city. The park is a fitting tribute, and it's well manicured beauty is a must see when visiting this city.

Hypocenter Park

Between the Peace Park and the Atomic bomb museum lies the Hypocenter Park, and monument marking the ground zero of the bombs impact. The history is quite solemn but the park is a beautiful and popular cherry blossom viewing site as well.

Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum

A museum that everybody should visit at some point in their lives. Learn about the history, and present state of nuclear weapons, and gain a new appreciation for peace.

One-legged Torii

Finish the tour with a short walk to the Sanno Shrine, and the One Legged Torii Gate marking its path. The Torii gate was half destroyed during the 1945 atomic bombing, but continues to stand tall. Just past the gate there are two magnificent Camphor trees that were both stripped clean by the blast, yet persisted and are still alive and flourishing today. A positive note to end the tour with!

Great tour with Tim!

Tim was our tour guide and met my husband and I promptly at the cruise port in Nagasaki. He had tram tickets ready for us and we proceeded to the Peace park and museum. Tim is from the USA and has lived in Nagasaki for a year and knows his way around Nagasaki and to the tourists. He took us to see a few things in the peace park like the air raid bunkers and the river area that a cruise tour didn’t go to see. The museum was very good and a must see. He also took us to the city hall to the 19th floor observatory to get a Birds Eye view of the city and then accompanied us back to the ship. Tim was a wonderful tour guide, very personable and we definitely recommend Tim and this tour!

Hi Tim was a great guide who showed enthusiasm and threw in a couple additional sights we wouldn't have seen otherwise!! Highly recommend him for any tour .. Thankyou !!
