Experience some stellar sights of our Banks Peninsula night sky in this stargazing group tour. Your immersion into the darkness starts as you first look up with your naked eyes. You will then get to see deeper into space thanks to our binoculars and telescope. Follow our Guide as he takes you on a journey of discoveries. Ask him any questions you might have about our night sky! No prior astronomy knowledge is required. On a clear night, it is essentially impossible to run out of objects to look for in the night sky, making stargazing an infinite source of inspiration and amazement.

Great experience, a must do in Akaroa

We were lucky enough to get a solo tour, Luca is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about our night sky. It was so beautiful and we learnt so much. The moon was especially beautuful looking at it through the telescope. We were even lucky enough to witness a lightening storm in the distance as an added bonus. We would highly recommend this tour.

Highly reccomended this amazing experience, a night learned new facts and finally understand some of the old ones. Lucas has created a great experience with his passion for the night sky and his patients to answer all the question that follow looking through the telescope. This was a great way to end our trip to Akaroa and has given us lasting memories of our night sky Thanks Luca

The jewels of the heavens showed to their best.

My husband is a massive amateur astronomer. We have a telescope at home. This guide Luca was brilliant, his knowledge care and explanations were in depth and his knowledge, blows my mind. The night sky was seeing the jewels of heaven sparkling for us. Luca explained so much more than just an average trip, he is passionate about the environment having a future sky for our generations to be able to see. I never knew light pollution was so much of a problem. His telescope enabled us to see Uranus! The first time I have seen it! And the so much more. The jewel box, the Magellan clouds, of course Jupiter and Saturn. So much more at this point I can’t remember! Yes it was cold, but if you dress appropriately and Luca had hot chocolate, tea and blankets. It was very cosy. But i think seeing all the stars made it the most wonderful night. I saw so much and it was so clear, it makes you aware of light pollution and wanting to come back every year. Akaroa was better than the others we have been too, as it was just us called date night. The pricing was competitive and the place is a piece of paradise anyway. You could stay there it was a great town, with the most beautiful bay.
