Wat Phra That Chedi Luang
Next we will visit the most famousest Wat Chedi Luang temple, it is home to Chiang Mai's largest Buddhist chedi built featuring 98 meters tall and 54 meters in diameter. The construction of the orginal chedi was completed in 1481 during the reign of King Mengrai. But the current Chedi Luang is an restoration according to the deconstruction of the chedi in 1545 due to an earthquake. The ordination hall located in the front is also an example of beautiful Lanna architecture with its serpents are probably one of the most remembered elements.
35 minutes
Wat Phra Singh
The temple houses an important Buddha statue: the Phra Buddha Sihing which gives the temple its name. The Phra Buddha Sihing statue is supposed to have been brought, via Ceylon (present day Sri Lanka), to Ligor (present day Nakhon Si Thammarat) and, from there, via Ayutthaya, to Chiang Mai.There are two more Buddha statues in Thailand which are claimed to be the Phra Buddha Sihing: one is housed in Wat Phra Mahathat in the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat and another one the Bangkok National Museum. It is alleged that the head of the statue had been stolen in 1922. The possibility remains that the present statue (or maybe only the head) is a copy. Every year, during the Songkran festival, the statue is taken from wihan Lai Kham and carried through the streets of Chiang Mai in a religious procession during which the spectators honour the statue by sprinkling water over it.
35 minutes
Three Kings Monument
The Three Kings Monument was installed in 1984 to commemorate a friendship between 3 kings. This friendship was perhaps the most important and famous friendship in Thai history, and the historical events in the context of which this friendship was entered into are defining moments in the history of the north of Thailand. The friendship is also of cultural significance because it is symbolic of the coming together of once separate regions of Thailand in an alliance to create the Kingdom of Siam in a part of South East Asia which was frequently invaded by Kings from neighbouring countries and often internally divided with different regions of Thailand at war with each other. The Three Kings Monument shows the three kings working together to plan the then new city of Chiang Mai in the 13th Century, and as such is one of older examples of people from different parts of what would become Thailand working together for a common purpose.
15 minutes
Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre
The Chiang Mai City Arts and Culture Centre was once the old city center since the King Mengrai era, where the “Inthakhin” ancient city pillar was situated, before it was moved to Wat Chedi Luang. The building was built in 1924, the municipality requested to renovate the building, in order to turn it into the museum. The renovation received an award in 1999 for preservation of a public building from the Royal Society of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage. Inside, the museum exhibits history of Chiang Mai, way of living and culture of the local since the prehistoric period. There are 15 halls categorized into chronological sequences; Prehistoric period, city establishing history, the rise and the dawn of city until Chiang Mai at present, intellectual way of wisdom life, and pride cultural identity of Chiang Mai people, presenting with high technology media, such as slide, video, computer program, Dioramas model, graphics board, and audiovisual displays.
40 minutes
Chang Phuak Gate (The Elephant Gate) (Pass By)
Chang Phuak Gate sometimes called the North Gate, is on the north side of the old city wall. In the daytime, the area is an ordinary street full of shops, (a lot of) backpacker hostels, restaurants and also several big ancient temples. It’s at night time though that the place really comes alive.
Suan Dok Gate (Pass By)
Suan Dok Gate is located on the west side of the old city wall. The gate is named after the nearby temple i.e Wat Suan Dok. Without many attractions near the gate, the surrounding area is not so touristy. Compared with the other sides of the wall, traffic here is moving much faster.
Chiang Mai Gate (Pass By)
Chiang Mai Gate sometimes called the South Gate, is on the south end of the old city. Nothing really touristic here, except the markets. If you come as early as 6.00am, you will see some monks making their morning alms around and collecting food at the neighbourhood market.
Saen Pung Gate (Pass By)
Unlike the other sides of the wall, the southern side of the old city has two gates. The lesser-known Saen Pung Gate is the other southern gate (southwest), sometimes called Haiya Gate, leading to Haiya subdistrict. The gate was not part of the initially built wall. It is a structure built around a century later by the queen at that time, Phra Rajathevee.

Umbrella Village - Bor Sang
We will take 15 minutes to Umbrellas of Bo Sang
It is possible that settlers from Burma in the early 19th century brought the skill and tradition of umbrella making to Bo Sang. A legend credits the monk Luang Por Inthaa with introducing the making of umbrellas, covered with sa paper, to the Bo Sang community more than 100 years ago. What seems to be clear is that the skill of making umbrellas from bamboo and sa paper originated in Burma. With the railway from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in January 1922, the “Rose of the North” became attractive to tourists. Therefore, the State Railway of Thailand started promoting Chiang Mai as a tourist destination. After that we will back to hotel about 15.30-16.00
