Overview

Our fantastic private guided Outlander tour is a fantastic way to explore many of the on-location castles that were used in Scotland for hit TV show Outlander. Your friendly and knowledgeable driver guide will take you on a journey of Outlander discovery exploring many sights onboard your private Mercedes Minivan. Hear the stories that make these locations famous both in Outlander, other film and TV appearances and in Scottish history. Many of the locations are within easy reach of Edinburgh. As well as seeing all of the local Outlander locations, we'll also have time visit the impressive Forth Bridges and pass the Kelpies and Stirling Castle to name a few the other sights. Our vehicles are the perfect size to squeeze down the country lanes that many of the locations are found whilst still being spacious and comfortable for up to 6 guests.

Itinerary

Midhope Castle

The location for Lallybroch in the grounds of Hopetoun house. The castle is where Jamie lives and works in the early seasons of Outlander.

Falkland

The picturesque village is the stand-in for Inverness in Outlander. The very first scene is filmed here as Claire and Frank arrive from London on honeymoon.

Culross

The conservation village at Culross was used as the stand-in for Cranesmuir in Outlander. Explore some of the locations that were filmed in this beautiful village

Culross Palace

Culross Palace was used as the interior location for many scenes in Outlander and used for Claire's herb garden. It is a beautiful preserved house and grounds and we explore it in full.

Hopetoun House

We arrive at The Duke of Sandringham's Residence in Scotland. Hopetoun is the stand-in for his palatial mansion. As one of Scotland's largest stately houses it is itself an interesting visit. We view Hopetoun from the outside.

Doune Castle

Doune Castle is instantly recognisable as Castle Leoch. Used in both post-war and 18th century scenes, Doune is one of Scotland's most filmed at locations. The Castle was also used for Game of Thrones and Monty Python.

The Best ever tour of Scotland in Five Days

We (two USA couples from Georgia) had an amazing tour of Scotland with the best tour guide in history, Calais, who became a dear friend. Frankly, all four of us agree Calais himself was the highlight of the tour because of his superb knowledge of Scottish history and his great sense of humor. We loved the scenery, the Stirling Castle (a must), Loch Lohman, Inverary Castle, a day on Skye, the Oban coastline, the Jacobite steam train, Eilean Donan castle, a night at Fonab Castle, Lindores Abbey Distilley, St. Andrews and the Old Couse, And a few off the path surprises. We also had five days of beautiful blue sky weather, no cold or rain! The best thing was discussing with the tour company months in advance what we would like to do and see and then they custom made a tour to fit those desires. We had a first class Mercedes van to enjoy the sites and zero hassle as every stop was well planned. Also our accommodations were perfect. Our last day in Edinburgh was another highlight as we won the lottery with the company owner, Sandy, also incredibly knowledgeable and personal, and who made sure we visited everything on our Edinburgh list with another beautiful day. We can't imagine a better tour guide than this company. Ask for Calais!

Outstanding Outlander Outing!

Calais was the BEST tour guide that took us to many of the filming locations for the Outlander series! He was SO knowledgeable about the filming and also other history. The Mercedes van was most comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Private outlander tour from Glascow

I wasn't sure what to expect with this tour but it was the best ever! Calais did an incredible job helping the Outlander sets come to life for us with stories and his knowledge from working with the show. I only wish we could have had more days to see more! All my friends are jealous and would highly recommend this tour.

Calais our driver/guide was exceptionally good: knowledgeable, helpful, and went out of his way to include a site we wanted to visit that was not on the itinerary. Having worked on the Outlander production team, his inside knowledge was especially valuable for this tour.
