Enjoy a 1.5-hour riverboat cruise on the Tempisque River bordering the Palo Verde National Park, which protects over 33,000 acres and is known for its ecological diversity. Itinerary

Palo Verde National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel or vacation rental and travel by vehicle through small towns and some of the best agricultural areas in Guanacaste as you observe melon plantations, sugar cane and more. You will arrive to the small town of Bolton where you can take a quick bathroom break before embarking on the river cruise. Once you are on the river, your knowledgeable guide will share with you information about the river and its inhabitants. Be prepared to see crocodiles, howler and white faced monkeys, huge iguanas and a vast array of birds. There will be endless photo opportunities. After your river cruise, you will enjoy a traditional family style Costa Rican lunch. Some say it's the best meal they had while on vacation. Then you will head back to the Tamarindo area and your hotel. This tour is not to be missed by nature lovers.

Tons of Iguanas...

Booked thru AmStar. This was so awesome... We saw about 15 Crocs, a tucan (which our guide said he's never seen one on this tour, and has been doing them for 8 years), several herons (different types), Some Jesus Lizards, Bats and tons of Iguanas. We were told it's the start of the mating season... Very informative and got to get up close!!! So fun!!!

Eugene drove a long way to pick up our group of 8 at Playa Junquillal and take us to the boat. He is very knowledgable and stopped to show us wildlife along the way. Had a great authentic meal after and he even stopped to let us do some grocery shopping on the way back. Highly recommend.

A great time

This was one of the better excursions that we did in Costa Rica. They treated us so well and were so nice. We saw crocodiles, monkeys, iguanas and several birds. We really enjoyed this and highly recommended it.

It was a very successful trip. The people were very friendly, and one quickly felt comfortable. Don't miss out on the food, along with the animals. It's definitely worth going on this excursion.

Exceptional in every way

Manuel "eagle eyes" our boat driver, he's the mischievous one and Henry our amazing, knowledgeable tour guide made this excursion truly unforgettable. Henry had a laser pointer which really helps point out those in hiding. He also had binoculars for us to use. All of this was followed by the best truly Costa Rican meal of our entire trip! This is a must for all ages!!! Pura Vida
