Itinerary

  • Pamukkale

In the morning you will leave Izmir behind and drive to Pamukkale. This amazing place is a beautiful and spectacular natural site, unique in the world with its fairylike, dazzling white, petrified lime cascades. There you will see the thermal spring water laden with calcareous salt, plunging down the mountain side which has created this natural formation of stalactites, cataracts and basins. The thermal water has been used since the Roman period for its therapeutic powers.

    3 hours

  • Hierapolis & Pamukkale

Next you will visit the Roman city of Hierapolis, which is not located not on earth or rock, but on solid limestone layers formed by limestone water that flowed for centuries over this raised level plateau. The name means "sacred city", and according to Stephanus of Byzantium the city was given this name because of the large number of temples it contained.

    1 hour

  • Izmir

While here you will visit the Apollo Temple competing with Delphi, Monumental Nympheum (a 4th century Basicala) and the Theatre. After visiting the best preserved Necropolis, return to Izmir.

It's worth the drive form Izmir

Published on Nov, 2021

My friend and were staying in Izmir so we took a field trip to Pamukkale and Hierapolis with Neon tours. We were picked up at 6:45 sharp in a top notch van who took us to a meeting point where we met our cool guide Josh and the rest of the company. The trip was long about three hours and that's the only thing I would change if I could. The trip was comfortable with coffee breaks, once we got there Josh showed us around, gave us enough information to start exploring the beautiful site of Hierapolis and helped us book a buggy with an English speaking driver and a phenomenal photograph who took us around and took some great shots. I could complain that 3 hours at Pamukkale and Hierapolis aren't enough but if I stayed there three days I would have had the same feeling. My field trip was enough to see the site and to admire it but next time definitely I will stay longer because you can go paragliding ( Josh offered to arrange for us), take a swim in Cleopatra's pool or just go relaxing in your bathing suit at one of Pamukkale's pools. After the site Josh took us to buffer lunch which was very good and to jewelry work shop to see how magic happens. I would definitely recommend the trip with just one favor to extend it a little bit. Shout out to Josh who was amazing, blow us away when he organized for us a solo visit to an amazing ceramic shop ( Firca (quartz & ceramic )

Worth the ride.

Ever since we were picked up at the meeting point, our experience was really great. as soon as we met our guide, he started pouring information, and had the time and dedication to explain everything. you could tell he was well informed, and had years of experience, never hesitated when asked about historical facts and always was well versed and explained as best as possible. although its a 3 hour ride from Izmir, Its worth the wait and the travel, once you get there the place is magnificent.

Very good

Fine tour with a experience tour guide name İsmail. Very well transport and comfortable. Very beautiful place to visit, just a little bit far from Izmir ( 4 hours drive), but it worse it, because the place is very beautiful. Absolutely recommended to visit Pamukkale for those who loves historical places.

One of my favorite places on earth

It's hard to beat the incredible combination of natural beauty, ancient architecture, and spiritual heritage found at Pamukkale (ancient Hierapolis). Go! Just go!

Just as good or even better than Ephesus

Published on Nov, 2019

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this amazing place. Nearly didn't go because of some negative reviews about guided tours. So a friend encouraged me to go myself on the train. I'm forever grateful that I did because the experience is truly unique. (On the plus side was able to wander about this amazing place without the restrictions of a guided tour). Getting here is easy from Izmir. Get the early train from Basmane station to the end of the line Denizli (28 TL) ( This train also stops at Selcuk for Ephesus). I arrived around 12:30. Checked into my hotel a few minutes walk from the train station and next to the bus station where I caught a mini bus (4TL) To Pemukkale (just a walk up the road to the entrance). This is where the adventure begins ( you have to take your shoes off to walk on the terraces so make sure you have something like a small back pack to carry them). I arrived about 2 in the afternoon and was able spend 4 hours exploring both Pemukkale and Heiropolis. An experience I will never forget. A guided tour isn't required just read about Pemukkale on Wikipedia for the information. The next morning I spent an hour so at the Laodocia site (again I caught a minibus from the station and it's a walk up the hill to the site). Then I returned back to Izmir on the midday train.
