Overview

If you love nature and are interested in viewing unique Mexican wildlife, this tour is for you! On this tour we will visit the Rio Lagarto Nature Reserve located on the Yucatan Peninsula, this place is characterized by its beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna such as the famous flamingos that come to this place to feed and nest, generating a unique spectacle painting the sky pink with their flight. Also you can see other endemic birds of the region such as herons, eagles, ospreys. We’ll also stop by Las Coloradas, an area of the lagoon where salt has been extracted from the seawater for decades. This area is home to the second largest salt factory in the country. You’ll definitely want to have your camera ready since this area is known for its breathtakingly beautiful pink lagoon water. After exploring the Rio Lagartos, you’ll probably be hungry. Your guide will take you to a local restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious lunch.

    Las Coloradas in the Yucatan Peninsula, is a unique place in the world, famous for its pink lake, this is due to the peculiar pigment produced by halobacteria, a type of microorganism found in water saturated with salt. on this tour you will be able to appreciate one of the wonders of nature, learn about this place, discover new landscapes, observe flamingos in their natural habitat.

    Located in the eastern end of the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico, the RĂ­o Lagartos Biosphere Reserve encompasses fundamental wetlands, recognized by the Ramsar Convention. It features a variety of mangroves, small estuaries, coastal lagoons, marshes and savannah that are home to a variety of species, and serve as nesting sites for some of them.

Great experience

Excellent trip (very long day, pick up at 620am dropped off at 9pm so pack accordingly) Bus driver jesus, tour guides Chu Chu and Toledo were excellent host. Definitely recommend this trip.

The tour was great . The tour guide had such a great attitude and was so funny . The tour was so much fun just running from adventure to adventure The only negative thing I can say is that there isn’t enough information given about the fun activities through out the day as example I had no knowledge that we were going to be in water and did not bring a bathing suit it would be great if there can be a little more details given about the fun activities throughout the day
