Itinerary

  • Plimoth Patuxet Museums

It's a journey 400 years back in time! You are living history, not just watching a reeactment in our recreation of the early English Pilgrim settlement (17th-Century English Village); learn about the Indigenouse heritage of the Northeast from contemporary interpreters whose people have lived here for over 12,000 years at the Historic Patuxet Homesite. For your enjoyment, there is a cafe in the Visitor Center that serves 17th-century and modern favorites. To remember your visit, we have a wide variety of Plimoth artisan-made and local New England items for sale in four retail shops. Visiting during America's 250th Anniversary - Revolutionary Ideas Started Here! You can't understand the late 18th-century without its 17th-century (and, really, earlier!) beginnings. Come visit and learn the historical roots of the United States social, economic, and politial systems where the ideas self-government are embodied in the Mayflower Compact. We hope to see you soon! Safe travels.

  • Plimoth Grist Mill

STEM and History program for all ages! Located in historic downtown Plymouth, a short walk from the waterfront through Brewster Gardens is the Plimoth Grist Mill. A working reproduction of the mill built by Pilgrim John Jenney, in the original location along Town Brook, you will learn about the operations of the waterfed powered mill, and the ecology of Town Brook. For those who love to bake, stop in to the retail store to purchase freshly stone-ground cornmeal and Sampe (Grits). On Saturday afternoons, the mill stones are operational, the other days of the week, the millers are preparing the cornmeal by sifting, willowing and preparing the stones for the next run. Try your hand at milling with the immersive exhibits in the lower exhibit of the mill. You may select to visit this location on the same day as you visit Plimoth Patuxet or a different day during the 2025 season. See you soon!

Amazing day

Published on Nov, 2024

We had the full experience here and it was amazing. The Patuxet museum was beautiful and the staff so knowledgable and friendly. A good few hours spent here walking round it lot a waste. The grist mill was beautiful and again, such knowledgable staff so happy to answer any questions. The mayflower was a lovely experience too and so much history in one day made it an absolute bargain of a spend

Film at the beginning...

Film at the beginning was very informative on history, make sure you see all of it. Ask questions to the dressed up staff - it will add to your experience. Staff was great, food at the Cafe was top notch!

Awesome!

We did the Mayflower and the village. Definitely worth it! Super knowledgeable staff and replicas are outstanding! My teen loved it and she doesn’t like “learning” tours:

Totally a must do!

This is a must do attraction in the area. We spent an entire day enjoying the wonderful and varied exhibits. We purchased the heritage pass which included admission to Plimoth Patuxet museum, Plimoth grist mill and Mayflower II. I love history and I was excited to visit the Patuxet homesite and sit in a wetu on soft furs and learn about the way Native Americans lived in the 17th century. Afterwards we moved on to the 17th century English village with a series of small houses and kitchen gardens. I was amazed at the small size of the houses. The Plimoth grist mill was so interesting and we were lucky to be able to be there when they were actually grinding corn. The docents made the exhibit come alive and they were so friendly and informative. They gave us a tip to walk to the Mayflower II instead of driving there. The walk is along the mill brook on a beautiful wooded path. it is easily managed and well worth doing. The Mayflower II was also great. So many informative plaques and the docents there were great giving us lots of information.

The best part of our vacation

The Village and trails leading to it were great. The actors did a great job portraying our history. If you get there around lunch time they had a Thanksgiving meal available for purchase.
