Itinerary

  • Ancient City of Ephesus

Ephesus, located in modern-day Turkey, is one of the most well-preserved ancient cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was an important city in classical antiquity, serving as a major port and trade center in the Roman Empire. History: Ephesus was founded by the Ionian Greeks in the 10th century BCE and flourished as an important city during the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. It was a center of trade, religion, and culture, and boasted prominent structures such as the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city was also visited by the Apostle Paul, who wrote one of his famous letters to the Ephesians in the Bible. Ephesus is renowned for its well-preserved ruins, which offer a glimpse into the ancient city's grandeur. Some of the must-visit attractions include - The Library of Celsus - The Great Theatre - The Temple of Artemis - The Terrace Houses - The Ancient Agora

    2 hours

  • State Agora

The Commercial (Lower) Agora of Ephesus was linked to the harbour by the Arcadiane, and stood close to its junction with the Marble Street, just to the south-west of the theatre. With an almost square plan, the Tetragonos Agora - whose ancient name, meaning the Square Market, has been confirmed by the inscriptions - was built for commercial purposes. It had impressive dimensions as its sides were 111 meters long. The Commercial Agora had three main gates, enabling access from the north onto Harbour Street, the south-east, and the west. The most impressive and best-preserved of these gates is the so-called Gate of Mazaeus and Mithridates on the south-eastern side, very close to the Celsus Library.

    10 minutes

  • Ephesus Terrace Houses

The Ephesus Terrace Houses, also known as the Ephesus Houses, are a fascinating archaeological site located within the ancient city of Ephesus in modern-day Turkey. These houses provide valuable insights into the daily life of the wealthy residents of Ephesus during the Roman period.

  • Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House)

The House of the Virgin Mary, also known as Meryemana in Turkish, is a significant religious site located in Turkey. It is traditionally believed to be the house where the Virgin Mary spent her final years. This belief is primarily based on the visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich, a German nun, in the 19th century, which led to the discovery of the site. The Catholic Church has recognized the site as a place of pilgrimage, and it attracts visitors from around the world, both Christian and non-Christian. The House of the Virgin Mary has become an important pilgrimage site for Christians, particularly Catholics, who believe that Mary was taken to this house by Saint John after the death of Jesus. While the historical authenticity of the site is debated, it remains a place of deep spiritual significance for many. Visitors can explore the house, attend religious services, and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding hillsides.

Best part of our vacation! Don’t miss this.

Published on Nov, 2024

At the end of August, my family and I had a private tour of Ephesus with our incredible guide, Onur. This specific tour was the highlight of our cruise, particularly because our guide was so kind, professional, and full of knowledge & passion for Kusadasi and Ephesus. We had a wonderful, air-conditioned mini bus / van and the drive to Ephesus was comfortable and pleasant. Our driver was great too - they were a great team. The tour of Ephesus was spectacular. I was impressed with it all (and to be honest, I found it much more awe-inspiring than Athens / Acropolis). Onur guided us through an epic tour of Ephesus and then recommended we stop into the Ephesus museum for the show. Do not skip this - it was awesome! I was blown away at how great the museum show was. My daughter loved it too, and it was one of her favorite parts. My daughter is 7, and we homeschool, so this tour was so special as she loves to explore history, and what better than this! Onur was so attentive to being sure that our daughter understood the history she was seeing and it meant so much to us that he included her. My daughter still talks about how Turkey was her favorite part of our trip, and she wants to go back and take more of our family. We agree :) Do not hesitate to book this tour. You will not be disappointed. And if you have the opportunity to have Onur as your guide, do it immediately. I’ve told every one I know about visiting g Kusadasi and this fabulous tour, and we will 100% be coming back and bringing more family with us to do it all over again and more. The best memories and we are so grateful! Thank you Onur!

Great service from our tour guide

Uyfar Karaca was our tour guide while we were in Turkey on a day trip from our cruise ship. We stopped at Starlight travel agency where we met Uyfar. He took us to Ephesus, the house of virgin Mary and the temple of Artemis. He was very knowledgeable. Gives great advice on where to go and what to see. He's very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend Uyfar as a tour guide. Would also recommend Starlight travel agency. Great service from both
