  • Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador)

    Built in 1913, with rocks from the excavation of the Culebra Cut during construction of the Panama Canal, the Causeway joins Panama City with four islands: Naos, Perico, Culebra and Flamenco. The site was part of a US military complex called Fort Amador that had established to protect the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Currently, vestiges of the military installations can be seen on the islands.

  • Casco Viejo

    also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997.

We were delighted by our Amber Moon driver! We had a special mission - my uncle worked on the Panama Canal and was buried in the Corozal American cemetery - so that was our prime destination. He quickly got us there and connected us with the staff to find his grave, and his wife's grave ... then gave us a mini tour to see the locks, went to the old Panama Canal Headquarters (Old Canal Zone) [find out why the Palm Tree are planted where they are] and then to a view point at the Bridge of The Americas ... then off to Biomuseum and Old Panama. We had limited time to accomplish this - and got back to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We gave him a big tip to thank him for taking great care of us. Ira Serkes, Berkeley CA USA PS We had one minor glitch - it turns out that COPA flys out of Terminal 2 ... but our COPA flight arrived at Terminal 1! Some quick WhatsApp calls solved the problem. My tip - be sure to let Amber Moon know which flight you're on and ask them to confirm which Terminal it arrives at.

Great layover tour!

We had a private 7-hour layover tour with Marcos. Marcos was an excellent guide: kind, extremely knowledgeable, and professional throughout. He was waiting for us outside of customs at the airport with a sign with our name on it. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. He took us to the highlights around the city: the canal, the old town, etc. he had us back at the airport with plenty of time. It felt completely stress free and we enjoyed it very much. I know there is so much more to Panama City and the country more broadly, but this was a lovely way to get a quick peek while on a long layover. Highly recommend.

The IMAX Theater! Our guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and very nice. He took us to Old Town which I recommend visiting when ln Panama.

Francisco was on time, the car was comfortable, his guided tour at the Panamá Viejo was fantastic. First off, he was amazingly safe and patient while driving in impressively bad traffic. We could tell he loved his country and was excited about history. We learned all kinds of fun and entertaining information about Panamá during our drive from place to place. He kept it fun and totally flexible with our destination choices. We ended up keeping him late as the line at the Panamá Canal movie was very long and we had had a leisurely in-depth experience at the Panamá Viejo ruins and museum. We tipped Francisco well for his very informative, safe and entertaining day-which we inadvertently made longer than expected. Would highly recommend Amber Moon to anyone. (We also used for cruise and airport transports)

Perfect Choice for US

We had flown overnight and arrived in Panama City in the morning. We were tired but wanted an overview of the old and new city. This private tour by car was perfect for the afternoon. We enjoyed our driver very much.
