We were founded by 2 Marine Biologist with the sole purpose of sharing this incredible natural phenomenon with the entire World. That's why many guests come with us, looking for fun facts, safe environment, & eager to interview the Marine Biologist. - All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour. Kayaks have a weight limit of 220 lbs. per person (NO exceptions). To assure weight restriction is met, guests will be weighed on-site. It is the guest responsibility to comply with health and weight requirement.

The owner of the service animal must provide a Licensed Life-vest by the Coast Guard for the animal. The animal must be in total control all the time. Keep in mind that there will be many people around in the dark.

For safety reasons pregnant women cannot participate. (NO exclusions)
Kayaks have a weight limit of 220 lbs. per person. (NO exclusions) To assure weight restriction is met, guests will be weighed on-site.
If necessary, a tarp (canopy) may be used during the excursion to block any light pollution and enhanced the experience.
Our kayaks are all tandem kayaks for two people - you are booking per person not per kayak.
Guest that are not able to complete the tour for any reason will not be provided a refund of any type.
All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour.
If one space is left, that means there is 1 space (for 1 person) on a tandem kayak (No single kayaks available). You will be accompanied by another guest on the tour.
All guests must arrive 30 mins before the start of the tour. The drive from San Juan can be about an hour and 20-30 mins depending on traffic. Please plan accordingly
Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way. When crowded conditions warrant, Pure Adventure will provide extra guides for your safety.
Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary from minimal no very bright suddenly.
In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. So, if you are afraid of darkness, a first time kayaker, or have small kids we strongly suggest taking the earlier, sunset trip. This way you can see where you are going, get use to the environment and sharpen your kayaking skills
Our offices are closed on SUNDAYS - Reservations made Saturday after 5 pm will not be revised until Monday at 9 am. For cancellations request during this time please send us a message through Viator.
SPECIAL NOTE: We encourage our guests to not reserve the tour on the same day of arrival to the Island. If the FLIGHT or FERRY is delayed and the guest misses the tour the guest will not be entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
TOUR TIME might change depending on sunset time. If so we will send a reminder for updated meeting time.
This tour takes place in the water. Expect to get completely wet. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. We recommend to bring a change of clothes and towel for after the trip.
Tour is not canceled in rainy days. We will get wet anyways ;)
It is the guest responsibility to read and comply with health and weight requirements. Ignorance of the requirements is not accepted as an excuse.
There are public bathrooms on-site, but they are not always in good condition. You may consider stopping in fast food before getting to the meeting site or using the bathrooms from the nearby stores/restaurants which are sometimes available.
No Expecting Mothers
For safety reasons, children under 6 years old CANNOT participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.
Those who have epilepsy, back problems, claustrophobia, heart conditions, dizziness, recent surgery or any other condition that may put life in risk are not allowed to participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.

My sister and I had a difficult time kayaking, but Javier helped us so much; he made sure we had an amazing and safe experience. He even attached our kayak to his to help us along the way!!! All the guides were also incredible. About eight tour guides joined the tour to ensure everyone's safety.

Was a very convenient place for adventures. Central to El Yunque and the Bioluminescent Bay. Which were amazing. Also close the beach a block away. It was very clean and well maintained. The only downfall is one Bathroom.

Amazing experience with Javier, Amaury, Eli, Yadid and Catalina! From texting prior to arrival, to having a place to keep your keys safe while on your adventure and a crew so enthusiastic, you knew you were in for a treat! The gentlemen were such great guides, they shared a great deal of interesting facts and they clearly love what they do and are stewards of the BioBay. They also make sure you really have time to experience the beauty of the water. We saw folks of all ages and some kiddos too, fun for everyone, we highly recommend!

Must come experience the (bioluminescent) life in the bay!

We had such a fun and memorable time on our Bio Bay kayaking tour! Our team was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Javier, Enrique, Yadiel, and Catalina helped us navigate the whole experience, and made it a blast for both beginner and expert kayakers. And, most importantly, the bioluminescent activity was SO cool to see! There's nothing like it, pictures don't do it justice.

Everything was well done, I felt Save the entire time. The tour guide seemed knowledgeable, but I couldn’t always hear them. This was definitely my most memorable experience from my trip to Puerto Rico as the bio illumining bay is exactly as described: magical!
