Train-ride to remember

Published on Feb, 2025

This was a well organized trip and, from start to finish, I really enjoyed the way it was supervised and the support offered by our guide. This was particularly so because as a British traveler extra care was taken to ensure that I was fully informed and advised of proceedings in my own language. The journey itself was spectacular and I appreciated the drinks that were provided during the trip. The seating arrangements were very accommodating and there was free movement throughout the section of our part of the train. I was impressed that any instructions by the crew were respectfully provided. Every effort was made to ensure our enjoyment and safety. Commentaries were offered in my language although, to be honest, I was more taken up with the stunning views outside. Lunch was provided following the train journey. This was enjoyable (perhaps it could be made clearer that the drinks and/or sweet were an additional cost) and took an hour. The stop in the towns were time constrained. Personally, I was more impressed with the first town and would have liked to have explored this more and to have had time to stop for a refreshing drink before moving on. The coastal town, I felt, was a less interesting stop. The only vendor on this stop was a small ice cream outlet which was disappointing. There wasn’t much to see or do at this stop. If I were the tour operator I think that I would review these stops. Perhaps a better solution would be to spend more time at the first stop and move back to the drop off point from there? However, in overall terms, this did not unduly influence my excellent opinion of the trip as a whole experience. The trip back seemed long. The microphone used by our guide was loud and indistinct at times which was frustrating. Perhaps this could be looked at in future. For anyone in two minds about this trip I would definitely not have missed this and, apart from some minor observation points, I would highly recommend that you DO NOT miss this. This was one of the highlights of my visit to South America.

Really beautiful scenario and interesting stories to learn

Published on Jan, 2025

You need to be a little patient, because it's a slow ride train. But to me, it was very worth it, as you can listen to the stories from the guides, appreciate the view during those hours between Curitiba (3,000 feet) and Antonina by the ocean level and have fun going on a picturesque ride. To my teenage soon, the ride could be faster, but still he enjoyed the scenes and the food in Morretes city.

Great deal!

I was reluctant to book through a third party with Viator, but it worked out very well. The price included transfers, a guide, train ticket, snack, lunch and more. Great deal and fun experience!

"Curitiba Delight: Modern Wonders and Timeless Charm"

Published on Dec, 2023

My trip to Curitiba was nothing short of extraordinary. The city's unique blend of modernity and green spaces left me captivated. From the innovative urban planning to the picturesque botanical gardens, every moment was a delightful discovery. The local cuisine offered a palate-pleasing journey, and the warm hospitality of the people added a special charm. Curitiba's rich cultural tapestry, vibrant street art, and efficient public transportation made exploring effortless. It's a destination that seamlessly balances tradition and progress, making my experience truly unforgettable.

One of the prettiest Train Trips

Published on Jun, 2023

This is a wonderful trip and well arranged by Viator and Gray line. The trip was well planned and the agent came to pick up at the designated time in the hotel lobby. You are taken to the train station and there is a huge crowd going to Morretes. There are many coaches on the train. Our cab had a viewing area in the middle for wide views. The staff in the train were the best. They gave a nice presentation and you could get unlimited drinks, even beer, with a snack box. At Morretes, the guide picks you up in a van and the first stop is a restaurant where you try the local dish, Borreado. It is a slow cooked meat dish, eaten with cassava flour, garnishes, banana etc. After a lunch stop, we went to a interactive park where there was a an exhibit on the history of Parana state. Commentary is in Portuguese, but there are signs in English to follow along. After this, we were driven to the lovely bay city of Antonina for 20 minute stop. It has pretty sights. Later, we were taken by road back to our hotel in Morretes. All in all, it was a fun and education trip. The train through an Atlantic forest is amazing.
