Overview

Make your way to the Edinburgh Dungeon and allow yourself to feel immersed in Edinburgh’s narrow cobbled closes and wynds (small side streets). You are about to come face to face with the city’s most notorious rogues and villains and discover the dark side of Scotland’s long history. Your underground journey takes through different periods of Scottish and Edinburgh history, with live actors recreating some of the more dark and tragic episodes of the past – all with the unique Dungeon blend of tongue-in-cheek humour, scary fun entertainment and audience participation.

  • The Edinburgh Dungeon

    Come face-to-face with Sawney Bean and his cannibal family – he’d love to have you for dinner! Will you escape the plague in Mary King’s Close, or end up with boils on your sweaty bits? Be found VERY guilty by Judge Mental and accused of witchcraft by Edinburgh’s baddest witch Agnes Finnie! You’ll meet Burke & Hare, the city’s most notorious serial killers and encounter ghosts from the past… Experience the sights, sounds and even smells of Edinburgh, culminating in the thrilling Drop Dead Ride to Doom at the Grassmarket gallows!

Worth it, good fun

Have been to Edinburgh for years but finally did this. Was SO fun. My 10 year old was appropriately spooked. The book we bought was also great and we read it later as a family late at night for creepy value. Really happy we went.

The dungeon was extremely well themed, the actors were funny and informative and gave us good spooks along the way. The special effects were far beyond expectations. The time flew by once inside, before we knew it, we were in an excellently themed gift shop. Great for those interested in history and the macabre!

Each room has its own set of characters and they all play the roles brilliantly. They interact with the audience at just the right level making it fun but not over the top or too embarrassing. You pick up some interesting bits of history as well amongst the fun. The surprise at the end is really good and some of the rooms definitely get the heart rate going Highly recommend a visit - book well in advance
