Overview

The Hemingway Experience celebrates Key West’s most infamous author, Ernest “Papa” Hemingway, with a historical walking adventure retracing his steps on a "Bucket List" tour of Old Town. Our 4-hour guided experience stops at (6) locations, helping tell Hemingway’s story in Key West & Cuba. Each ticket includes guided entrance into his famed Key West home. Then eat, drink, and explore the island on foot through “Papa’s eyes”, feasting on Cuban cuisine (& 3 boozy beverages) while your knowledgeable local guide impresses with interesting stories & amazing fun facts. The adventure takes you behind the scenes of a 3rd generation family run cigar rolling factory, and into the newly remodeled Social Club at Hemingway Rum Co. for his favorite drink made with his family company’s premium rum. Then finish with a slice of our famous key lime pie! After the tour, you’ll receive a collection of exclusive recipes, recommendations on restaurants, attractions, entertainment, and cultural offerings.

    Enjoy a guided tour through Ernest Hemingway's home where he wrote literary works such as "For Whom the Bell Tolls," wander the lush gardens, pet his six-toed cats, and see the writers desk where it all happened.

A special way to experience, Key West… From the taste of Hemingway as well as the Tours Owner and local experiences

I brought a small leadership business group to Key West for a retreat, and this was definitely a highlight of the experience! The CEO of the company had a very keen interest in cultural experiences as well as history, and this met the bar at every turn! The owner met with us on our site inspection and took us on a mini tour and she was able to curate some elements and inclusions for us, which was greatly appreciated!

We had Rose for our tour guide and he was fantastic! The tour of the Hemmingway house was fun and we ahd a professional staff tour guide inside. I learned a lot about Hemmingway and his family and grounds. Then we did a walking tour of some of the other hangouts where Hemmingway spent his time. We ate some food, drank some rum, heard and told stories. It really was a fun morning. Ask for Rose by name!

Our Guide Kelia was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her personal experience with the people and businesses in Key West gave us the local expert's perspective, instead of just tourists. Manager also helped accommodate some of our challenges that made the full experience enjoyable. Meeting local chefs and family members in the Rodriguez Cigar Factory made the tour the best experience! Highly recommend this experience!
