Duration: 3 hours: Duration is between 2,5-3,5 hrs. depending on the day. On rare occasions it can be 1-2 hrs. longer (you will be notified).

Whale Watching Zone: We sail from Reykjavík's Old Harbour and our search area is Faxaflói bay. On rare occasions, we depart from other harbours.
Boat Amenities: We operate on a specially modified 150-200 passenger boat. Heated indoor areas, toilets and bar available on board.
Dress Code: Please make sure to dress according to the weather at sea. If needed, we have overalls you can borrow for free.

Overview

Encounter whales, dolphins, porpoises and birds on this cruise from Reykjavik and see the wildlife in their natural habitat off the capital’s coast. Whales and dolphins are seen on more than 90% of summer tours and 80% of winter tours. In the unlikely event you do not see a whale or a dolphin you receive a complimentary ticket to join us again another day. Elding is an environmentally friendly company and recognised worldwide for its sustainability efforts. The aim, mission and goal is to minimise the operational impact on the environment while offering an unforgettable experience at sea. We follow a code of conduct for responsible whale watching.

Meeting points

Meet us in the ELDING ticket office located at Ægisgarður 5c by the Old Harbour district in Reykjavík. Once at the pier, simply follow the red colour to find us! Be sure to arrive at least 15 min. before departure to ensure enough time to check in and to board the boat.

Really enjoyed the trip Crew very informative and helpful. The whales where wonderful to see and bottle nosed dolphin. Wonderful trip.

We had an amazing tour! From start to finish it was well organised, the boat was comfortable with plenty space inside and out. We saw two beautiful humpback whales, one breached and when they relaxed we were able to see them close up. The staff were always smiling, friendly and supportive. They were especially supportive with my autistic son, who was struggling on arrival. I was given some alternatives to make it easier for my son and then was checked throughout the tour to make sure he was ok? I felt 100% supported and felt the company was inclusive and knew how to help. Couldn’t recommend this experience more! A must do!

Lots and lots of dolphins!

Disappointed to not see any whales but we saw a superpod (?) of dolphins which apparently was quite unusual to see. Every direction you could see dolphins, some quite close to the boat and we stayed with them for a long time. This was fabulous. The guide was a marine biologist (?) and had a wealth of information to share, with animal welfare seeming to be a high priority for the company. Plenty of space on the boat, weather very changeable, never felt sea sick. Very glad we chose this company, thank you.
