Izakaya is the term for a Japanese-style pub where people go after work for casual drinking. Catch the train (own expense) to some of Tokyo's nicest izakaya pubs and enjoy your evening like a local. Your guide will translate the menus and help you to choose tasty food and drinks at each pub (own expense). Your small-group tour is limited to 12 people, ensuring a personalized experience. Come see and taste Tokyo through the eyes of a true local.

Itinerary

Your tour will take you on a very unique off-the-beaten track street-bar-hopping and izakaya experience where you will enjoy a very colorful and eye-opening local night of culture away from the commercial and mainstream pubs often frequented by tourists. Choose the pubs you want to visit on your 2.5-hour bar hopping tour. Meet your well-known local guide at a nearby train station and make your way to the first izakaya bar for an appetizer. After a short walk around the neighborhood you will arrive at your next izakaya. Again your guide will read the menu for you and translate to make sure you will enjoy the meal and food cultures of Tokyo. At the local izakaya, Yakitori, Okonomiyaki, Sashimi and Oden handmade dishes will satisfy your taste buds. If the timing is right, you will head to the last izakaya bar. Even though the pub is private, your local guide can gain entrance. At the end of your tour, your guide will help you with directions to get back to your starting location, or lead you to the nearest station.

Amazingly friendly tour

Such a warm welcoming tour coming to Tokyo. Goto-san made sure we had a great time adapting to our search in trying the best local Japanese sake found in spots we never could have found. So many hidden treasures in Japan... and the prices were in cheap!! We didn't know what to expect but at the end of the night we were drinking without a worry and he made sure we got back safe way after our tour was finished.

GOTO rules! Our guide, Goto, was a total pro. Very responsive to our messages before the tour to confirm all the logistics. The tour itself featured fantastic food and drink, but the highlight was the company and the new Japanese friends that Goto introduced us to throughout the tour. It is obvious Goto has the ability to tailor the tour to the specific needs of any group. For us, he really highlighted some awesome and unique foods, and plenty of delightful drinks. Highly recommend!

Great night at great venues with a great guide. Went to places like we were locals and were welcomed with open arms. Excellent beer, sake and food.

Easily our Best Trip while in Japan!

So you never know what you are going to get when you book one of these kinds of tours. Well... this is one of the best! Our guide Goto met us in Shibuya at the appointed time. He walked us across and down the street to our first bar and it was amazing! We let Goto choose our appetizers as the menu was all in Japanese. The first stop was yakitori. All kinds of yakitori! It was so delicious! Our next stop we had so many dishes that we would never have known to try without Goto! Sashimi, tofu, tomato! And the best Banana Plum wine! Our third and last stop was for pancakes. Not the kind you think! Pancakes of noodles! We had two different kinds and they were both delicious.We also had oysters, stingray and Japanese sausage. This was an awesome tour. Goto was so friendly and the best guide! We tried many new things and went to local places that we would never have known about. We had a great time and would do it again if we were to return! 4 of us highly recommend this tour!

We had an absolutely amazing night out in Shibuya with Goto! It was only my wife and I on the tour, so Goto asked if it was ok to invite his girlfriend along. Soon enough it felt more like a double date with old friends than a tour. They were both amazing and feel like we made life long friends. I really liked the fact that food and drinks was on top as it meant he didn’t go cheap on us. He took us to some really amazing izakaya’s and an amazing sake and food place. He took control of all the ordering and made sure we tried queried and wonderful things we would never have been brave enough to try on our own. It makes such a difference having a local take you to the local night spots, where you get a chance to experience the real Japan away from all the tourists. This was one of the best nights I’ve had out in Japan!
