    Inside the Templars Castle we will find the Convent of Christ, one of the chief works of the Portuguese Renaissance, considered World Heritage Monument by Unesco. Visit to discover some of its precious details, such as the depictions on the Renaissance portal, the unique symbolism of the Manueline Window in the Chapter Hall, the architectural details in the Main Cloister and the spaces connected to Templar rituals.

We had a wonderful excursion to Tomar sites with our private guide Simone. It was a great way to spend our first day in the Lisbon area. We always check Viator for places to visit in our free time.

Tomar and Knights of Templar

We took a Van Go tour by private van with Miguel Alves on a Knights of Templar all day tour from Lisbon to Tomar, Constancia, and a few other places in that area of Portugal. Miguel’s English was superb and he knew so much about the history of the Knights Templar, their Temple, as well as the churches and castles in the area around Tomar. We learned so much from him and enjoyed going through the churches and castles and Templar Temple with him as he pointed out and explained things we would have missed. We had a great time. He recommended a great restaurant by the river in Tomar. My octopus was so tender and perfectly prepared. We also learned a lot about olives and wines in the region. This was a 5+ stars tour with an exceptional guide. It was exactly what we wanted to do and learn more about! I highly recommend Miguel and Van Go tours.

Excellent tour! Susanna was a wonderful tour. She was like having a good friend show us around Portugal. The sites that we saw were wonderful. There was plenty of time to see everything that we wanted to see and also have a very good lunch. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in Tomar and the Knights Templar. It is also just an excellent way to see other sites in Portugal outside of the larger cities.

Our guide, Susana, was fantastic! The sights were spectacular- and she was extremely knowledgeable concerning all aspects of the historical aspects. She accommodated All of our requests and was extremely flexible, personable and enjoyable to spend the day with.
