Overall, this was a great way to celebrate our 13th anniversary. It was fun, easy and well organised. Loved our tour of the building. Our guide (Rebecca) was informative and funny and tailored the tour to suit our interests.
After our tour we went through the (current) "Endeavour Voyage" exhibition. The dual perspective - indigenous vs European - was well presented, thought provoking and interesting.
We enjoyed our complimentary meal at the cafe (nice food and fantastic views) and picked up a couple of fun items at the shop using our discount vouchers.
Things to be aware of:
1. Plan your visit and allow enough time. The tour takes an hour. Get there at least 10 minutes early to pick up your vouchers and free book. The cafe is very popular and, depending on numbers, there may be significant delays. Our advice, just sit back and enjoy the views of the city and Lake Burley Griffin.
2. As of April 2021, COVID safety measures are still in place. Visitors 16 and over need to sign in using the "Check In CBR" app. If you want see the featured exhibition, you will need to book a free, timed ticket to assist with social distancing. You can do this on-line or ask the friendly staff at the reception desk.
3. Most of the tour takes place outside. Be aware there is a lot of standing about and taking a hat or umbrella (if required) is advisable.
4. If you have mobility or other issues, contact the museum for assistance. They have a good range of assistive services, including: hearing induction loops, braille maps, accessible parking spaces, etc. They can also provide free loans of mobility scooters and wheelchairs on request.
