While the Capuchin Crypts are a bit on the morbid side, the museum is fascinating. The catacombs, however, were worth every penny we paid for this tour! We have been to Rome before, but never saw the catacombs. We had the most delightfully sweet guide through the catacombs who shared the Biblical history of the frescos and markings on some of the crypts. She was a veritable fountain of information about the history of the catacombs and the actual entombment of the bodies in the crypts. There are no photos allowed inside the catacombs but imagine a labyrinth of stone shelves stretching miles where bodies were entombed from the 2nd century onward until they were looted by raiders. Amazing experience.
