Waitangi Treaty Grounds

Your night will begin at Whare Waka Café within the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where you will be greeted by your host and will finish back at the café where you will be seated for your delicious hāngi feast. Enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival as you mix and mingle in the charming outdoor setting at Whare Waka Café. Your charismatic and informative host will guide you through the evening’s events. Watch as the expert hāngi chef unveils your dinner and explains the traditional cooking process. Be transported back in time as you follow your host on a short bush walk, where you will be approached by Māori warriors before you experience a traditional challenge (wero). Prepare to be amazed as the resident performing arts group Te Pitowhenua entertains you with a high energy cultural performance. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner of various meats, stuffing, vegetables, breads, salads and steamed pudding for dessert.

Well worth going for whole Combo

Very enjoyable afternoon and evening. Ticket includes tour and history of site, afterwards a cultural performance at the meeting house. A different evening performance and the hangi. Lots of information about Maori history and culture. The meeting of our different cultures and efforts made on both sides to understand and learn from each. Both afternoon cultural show and evening concert were fun and interesting. Hangi meal was good to eat. I also enjoyed the explanation of how it was prepped and cooked. Museums are not to be missed, worth allowing tine to check out each one, there are 3 on site all included in ticket. If it's too much for one day, the ticket allows access to the site to look through museum on the day after the cultural tours.

Highly recommend the combo pass. We really had a great experience on Maori culture, history and food. The staff were friendly and gave us a lot of information about the Treaty and NZ history. We enjoyed the guided tour and the cultural show. The grounds were beautiful and the museum was fantastic. The food was super delicious. This was the best Hangi I have had.

Absolute must while in Aotearoa

Excellent day spent with the Maori ambassadors learning the history of Aotearoa. The guided tour with Ceecee, cultural performances, delicious Hangi not to be missed. I would do it again. The Museum of Waitangi easily takes a couple of hours. We came for 12pm tour, 1 pm performance, then toured the museum before the 6 pm Hangi. Full day, learned so much.

Booked the combo package for the Waitangi Treaty grounds tour, which included the Hangi at night. Found this to be very informative. The grounds are very well maintained and the views of the bay are spectacular. The concerts were great and the food at the Hangi was plentiful and very tasty. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about their history.

Great cultural experience

We did the Waitangi Day experience with museum and cultural experience. Visited Busby House, meeting house, war canoe, Te Rauaroha museum and Waitangi museum. Lot's to see and do, and the guides give full knowledge of history. Recommended for any group, families etc.
