Har ki Pauri Ghat, located in Haridwar, India, is one of the most sacred ghats in the country. It is believed that Lord Vishnu left his footprint on the stone wall of the ghat, hence ... the name "Har ki Pauri" which translates to "Footsteps of the Lord." Popular activities at Har ki Pauri Ghat include taking a holy dip in the Ganges River, attending the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening, and releasing diyas (oil lamps) into the river as an offering. The best time to visit Har ki Pauri Ghat is during the Kumbh Mela festival, which is held every 12 years, or during the annual Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture and traditions by participating in the daily rituals and ceremonies performed at the ghat, and by interacting with the sadhus (holy men) and pilgrims who frequent the area.
