This was an overall fantastic tour, especially if you’re looking to experience a little bit of everything Olympia has to offer. However, we were surprised by the appearance of the Olympic stadium…it wasn’t quite what we expected, so I’d recommend researching it ahead of time to manage expectations. While we enjoyed the tour, if we return to Athens, we likely wouldn’t revisit the stadium.
One of the highlights of the tour was a visit to a small, family-owned winery, which was absolutely wonderful. The delicious wine was accompanied by an incredible charcuterie board spread and breathtaking views. Our tour guide, Katerina, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and kind throughout the day.
It’s worth noting that the company had to pay in advance to reserve our spot at the winery, and we were caught off guard by this. We ended up giving a majority of our euros to cover the reservation, leaving us with limited options to tip Katerina, even though she truly deserved it. She was incredibly gracious about the situation, but it’s important to bring extra cash for any unexpected expenses, especially if reservations need to be made. This can vary depending on how many cruise ships are in port that day, so it’s something to keep in mind.
We also made a final stop at a beautiful beach, which was peaceful and not overcrowded. The views were stunning, and our driver made sure we were safe and comfortable throughout the journey.
I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you’re prepared for what to expect at the Olympic stadium and bring a little extra cash for any surprises along the way.
