During the Third Reich the Obersalzberg was the Southern Headquarters for the National Socialist Party with many top leaders owning homes here, and many important political decisions made here. This private tour is perfect for those wishing to discover this history... This half day tour covers many of the historically important sites on the Obersalzberg, including the more hidden locations that most tourists never hear about such as the site of the Berghof; Hitler's former home. While there are many tour options that include this area, most will only stop off at the most well known spots. This tour also includes the secrets hidden on the mountain which really provide an authentic account of the fascinating history of this area. In addition, the mountain scenery is extremely beautiful and on a clear day you will be surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps and the valley below.

A great, exclusive experience.

We were picked up at the hotel by Tom who caught our attention from the first minutte. Livingly explaining and knowledge sharing from a obvious very large knowledge base. We got information and stories that we would not have been able to pickup without his inputs. A private tour, value for money, we can highly recommend. Go for it!

I cannot recommend this tour enough, especially if you are a history buff! Tom was fabulous and had loads of information to share (including pictures). He did a great job and our party of 8 really enjoyed our time!

As a retired teacher who taught a unit on the Holocaust, I found Tom’s Berchtesgaden tour very informative. My three sons and their wives would agree; in fact, one son commented this half-day tour with Tom was the highlight of our two weeks in Europe. Tom was knowledgeable, personable, and shared visual photos and actual sites for events we had only read about. My family and I all highly recommend this tour with Tom Lewis!

A group of my friends and I did the 1/2 day tour with Tom, and it did not disappoint! The weather didn't cooperate (steady rain) but Tom still managed to provide a great tour despite the weather. We went to the former site of the Berghof, Hermann Goering's home, and the Documentation Center/Tunnels. Tom was thoroughly knowledgeable on all of the places we visited, and he did a great job answering the many questions our tour group had. A great time was had by all, I'd love to go back to Berchtesgaden when I have a lot more time and I'd certainly recommend Tom's services to anyone interested. Highly recommend!

Tom was just an outstanding tour guide! I’m an amateur history buff and thought I knew a lot about the area and topic but Tom blew me away! He knew things I never heard of and showed us areas we wouldn’t see on a regular tour. He not only knew the history he actually lives in the area in former WW2 housing and his personal connection with former inhabitants, wartime visitors and documents/pictures blew me away! A definite must for those wanting to learn more than they thought they knew about the history of the place! Thanks Tom for a once in a lifetime experience!
