This tour is unique, it shows you in a single tour the majesty of underground architecture, the magic and mysticism of our ancestral cultures around the Colombian capital, you will always do it in the company of one of our expert guides. The tour begins in the only cathedral built underground in the world, located up to 180 meters below the ground, it is an impressive mega structure where the ingenuity to build a mine of this magnitude is spectacularly combined with the artistic vision of the Christian Stations of the Cross and the construction of a religious temple that integrates a great work of sculpture and lighting. We will continue the tour traveling towards a hidden treasure among the native nature of the Bogotá savannah. At the highest point, in the middle of the mountains, is the sacred lagoon of Guatavita, the place where an ancient legend was born: El Dorado.

Ancient civilizations settled around the city of Bogotá, and a legend that has transcended time originates from one of them: El Dorado. An important part of the pieces built in pure gold from this culture is found in the Gold Museum in Bogotá. You can choose whether to have lunch in Guatavita or Zipaquirá.

Great day out of Bogota!!

A truly wonderful day! The lagoon is stunning and the history fascinating! Prepare for some uphill climbing on a rough path but nothing too arduous and really worth it! The Salt Mine and the cathedral are beautiful and again the story really interesting. I would recommend this to anyone and it’s a great way to spend a day. The day was led by the amazing guide Sergio - informative, really friendly and very knowledgeable. We were driven by the super friendly and professional William!

Day visit to Guatavita Lagoon and Salt cathedral

David was very knowledgeable about the tale of El Dorado and the biodiversity of the Guatavita lagoon. He was patient with our acclimatizing breathlessness on the steep walk up to the lagoon. Lunch was fun and vibrant with traditional Colombian food. We had no idea what to expect from the Salt cathedral but it was so much bigger and more unique than we thought. This long day trip is worth the visit to have a day away from the city and see two very special places.
