Overview

Our first stop will be a visit to Chania, Crete’s second largest city into the old town within the venetian city walls which is an attractive maze of narrow streets, old mansions and arcades, with mosques and minarets bearing witness to the turkish influence and the carefully laid out new town which is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Greece. The lake of Kournas lies in a valley, in a beautiful area between the hills and the surrounding mountains and is reminiscent of a lake in the Alps. Here you can enjoy your lunch, walk around the lake. Our last stop will be a short visit to Rethymnon. Shop for antiques and knick-knacks in the narrow street of the old town, to graze up at the turkish minarets and to stroll along the Venetian port down to the fortress and along the golden sandy beach stretching into the distance. You’ll never believe one island could have such contrasting sights and colors.

The bus trip to Chania will take 3 hours. Your professional guide give you a tour and you have some free time to wander around the beautiful Venetian streets and neighbourhoods, little shops, markets and local restaurants around the picturesque old port.

The bus trip to Chania will take 1 hours. You can enjoy the beautiful nature and your lunch. The largest natural lake of Crete. You cab hire a pedal boat for a lovely ride around the lake.

The bus trip to Chania will take 20 minutes. Your professional guide gives you a guided tour and you have some free time to the picturesque venetian town, the old port and beautiful oriental beach road of the town.

Great tour!

It was a wonderful tour and a beautiful day. I do wish that we had more time at lake kournas but overall, the van driver was on time, the bus driver drove safely and the ride was very comfortable, the tour left promptly at each stop and the tour guide gave us a lot of information about the island. It was great, thank you.

Great way to explore the island

We thoroughly enjoyed both our trips with Eye travel; Knossos & Lesithi & Western Crete. They were excellently organised, both in advance, and on the day! We really appreciated your prompt and helpful responses to our questions before we booked. The coaches arrived promptly and both guides gave us a wonderful commentary. Everything and everyone was very efficient and welcoming. The tours themselves gave us a good contrast and enabled us to see quite a lot of the island, and ran well to time, yet we hardly ever felt rushed. Western Crete;- The landscape and commentary during our trip was wonderful. The opportunity to visit two other cities, Rethymnon and Chania, and have free time to explore was really good, and the time allowed for each of these stops was just perfect. Lake Kournos for lunch was beautiful. The day we visited has quite cloudy and windy, so we didn't mind not swimming too much, but there would not have been time to swim and have lunch there, which is a shame - this was the only stop which would have benefitted from a bit more time - another 30-45minutes would have given those who wished to time to swim or take a boat out as well as have their lunch.
