Did you know that Chania has been inhabited since the Neolithic Period? We’d love to share the amazing history of this little town with you on this self-guided audio tour. You’ll discover its remarkable architecture along the way, including a magnificent lighthouse, churches, mosques, shipyards and the old town’s well preserved houses. They’re a reminder of all the people and cultures that have influenced local life, from ancient times through to the Byzantine era, the Venetian occupation and Turkish rule. I’ll also point out the entertainment and cultural offerings that make the modern town so vibrant. During this tour, I’ll give you local insight, share fun facts, and introduce you to Chania's cultural identity through storytelling. We’ll explore some secret spots and find the old town’s hidden treasures too. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for this walk. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars en route for a quick (or lengthy!) stop.

The only walking tour I could find for Chania

We love to do a walking tour when visiting a new city but I couldn’t find one in Chania so we tried this app. It’s very easy to download and user friendly. The only thing missing was the ability to ask questions of a tour guide. LOTS of historical information and a great way to explore the small alleyways in Old Town. There were a couple of sites with Minoan ruins we would not have known about if we had not done this tour.

Hidden gems and easy navigation

Excellent tour. Would never have found the hidden alleys and sights without this. The GPS-based tracking made sure I stayed on track. Did the tour in two parts, in overall it took three hours with very relaxed pace.

Better find time to visit this town.

Great to get around Old Town

Great to have a walk around Old Town while getting supplementary Information on the ancient sights. We didn't make the whole tour in one day, gladly you can resume your tour and pick up where you left, if you happen to not make it in one go. There are some takes of recording where there's a speaking mistake, but that is not something I found disturbing in any way.

Well Worth It.

We really enjoyed walking through beautiful Old Chania at our own pace. We stopped at a delighted restaurant where flowering bushes added to the view and shade to the area we chose to sit. It is an area worth visiting for sure!
