Overview

Visit and learn about two essential places in Madrid in one morning. We will start the day with a 90-minute tour of Royal Palace, a gigantic building symbolic of the European monarchs, that will surprise us with its rich decoration and the number of rooms and halls it contains. After a walking guided visit of the iconic places between the Prado museum and the palace, we will finish our journey with a visit to the Museo del Prado, seeing its most outstanding rooms and paintings. Special emphasis will be placed on the paintings that have in one way or another changed the history of art and become universal references. We will get to see works by Murillo, Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, and Tiziano among many others. All of these visits will be made using points of preferential access, with official guides and with entrance fees included. This way, all that you have to worry about is enjoying Madrid and its beautiful monuments.

    Before to arrive to the Museo del Prado, the group tour will make a stop in Puerta del Sol, one of the most famous square in Madrid where are located the famous statue of the Bear and the Arbutus, and the post office clock, known for being the place from which the year-end chimes are issued since 1962.

My husband and I took the Palace and Prado tour during our trip to Madrid celebrating our 35th Anniversary. While my husband does not prefer to take organized tours, Patricia, our tour guide, changed his mind. We took some other tours while in Spain, and Patricia was by far the best. She was extremely knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to. Doing both the Palace and Museum in one day was a lot, so Patricia gave us a few options for transportation between the two and a coffee break. We opted for a taxi, since it was a 45 minute walk, and met her outside of the Museum for the second half. Both tours had small groups of only six people and our only complaint would be that the sound quality of the headphones makes it hard to hear some times. We wondered if we could have brought our own headphones to make it easier to hear. Overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend.
