Overview

Journey through the rainforest, high up in the mountains east of Chiang Mai on this 1 day trip in and around Mae Kampong. We'll explore a stunning village nestled among towering mountains, meet and have a chat with the locals and enjoy some local treats and even have a chance at spotting gibbons in the wild! Before we arrive at the village we'll go for a short hike to try and spot the resident gibbons, these majestic creatures were released in the past as part of a rehabilitation project and now live in a secluded area known to only a few people. We'll continue to journey up into Mae Kampong and enjoy a wander around the network of streets before the jungle hike begins. The hike takes you along a secluded 3km trail through the forest, which is seldom visited and not well known except to locals. We'll see one of the oldest trees in Chiang Mai, and the local guide will explain about the flora and fauna along the way. Then it's time for lunch before returning to the city!

Brilliant day and guide, must do!

What an amazing day! Only 4 of us on tour which was great. Guide was brilliant and very knowledgeable about area, flona/forward and of course the Gibbons. Lovely walks around village and up to waterfall, which was beautiful but the Gibbons were worth the price alone. Truly privileged to see them and share their space. Caretaker was amazing and called to Gibbons and they responded. Could not fault it at all. Go on this tour and you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic day walking and leaning about nature

We had a fantastic day walking through the forest with a local guide learning about the different fauna and flora and about the villagers life. We were fortunate to spot a gibbon too which was incredible. Communication was good from booking to pick up and transportation was good. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and made us all feel comfortable. I would recommend this tour if you like nature, the outdoors and wanting to escape the town for a day.

This was a great tour. The village in the mountain is super cute and the walks through the jungle was beautiful and so educational. Our guide told us everything about the plants they use for cooking and medicinal purposes. She was super nice as well. We went to see one of the gibbons as well and get to hear her singing, it was beautiful. Would totally recommend this tour!
