Overview

-Explore Ancient Techniques at Nagoya Castle and Modern Technology at SCMAGLEV. This tour focuses on technique and technology from ancient to modern. At the Honmaru Palace in Nagoya Castle, you’ll be amazed by how present engineers and craftsmen reproduced one of the most beautiful and powerful architectural structures at the time with their authentic technique and material. The fact that the craftsmanship has been passed by generation to generation can be discovered at the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park. You’ll see the passage of how Japanese railways have been developed from steam locomotives to regular trains, and from shinkansen (bullet trains) to MAGLEV (magnetic speed trains).

  • Nagoya Castle

    Honmaru Palace at the castle was built by one of the famous Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu in the beginning of 17th Century, Japan.

  • SCMAGLEV and Railway Park

    You will see not only the amount of current trains but you will also be impressed by the passions of the technical experts that made our country famous for accurate and high speed Shinkansen (bullet trains). Finally, you will learn how the MAGLEV (magnetic train) will be operated that will start running between Tokyo and Nagoya soon in 2027.

A Perfect Blend of the Past and the Future

If you want to experience a slice of history, while also celebrating the modern technology of Japan, this half day guided tour is just for you. Our tour began with an introduction to Yama-san, a local guide who ensured every aspect of our tour was comfortable, safe and highly entertaining. A true gentleman, Yama-san led us to each attraction, always taking care that no one was out of eyesight. We started with the Nagoya castle, where our guide presented us with an easily accessible description of what we were viewing, while also sharing insights on local culture and traditions. After enjoying the remarkable castle and grounds, we journeyed to the Shinkansen museum to learn everything about Japan's most famous trains. Our time was efficiently planned, allowing us to spend enough time at each sight while also having time for gift shopping and other local flavor. A big thank you to Yama-san for making our day very special. Highly recommended!
