We did this bike ride and cooking class with Farhah. We had the best time, learnt lots, laughed and ate some amazing food which was quite different to anything we have had from the local food halls. We rode through several local villages, stopped at a beautiful house that was the home of a high official to the last rajah, browsed through the local wet market, passed by more traditional malay houses, got on a boat, (bikes and us), then rode to the Lamin restaurant where the head chef helped us cook our lunch. Today's food was heavily influenced by the indigenous people of Sarawak rather than food influenced by Chinese, Indian, West Malaysia, Singapore etc . we have been enjoying. We had Ayam Pansuh (bamboo chicken), fish soup orang ulu style, Kerang Midin (jungle fern salad), Nasi Goreng Daun Ubi (tapioca leaves fried rice) and wild mango sambal. All very delicious. It was hard to pick a favourite. If you are looking for something a little different to do whilst in Kuching, we can thoroughly recommend this tour. Thank you Farhah for a fantastic day and for looking after us so well.
