I was worried that Sarawak Cultural Village would be a place that was too contrived or exploitative...but was wowed as it really showcased Sarawak's diverse cultures beautifully, culminating in a scintillating hour-long performance. Lunch wasn't included but the food at the in-house restaurant was really good and at very fair prices.
While I have seen many orangutans in zoos, seeing them in the wild at Semenggoh in the afternoon was a completely different experience. It was fascinating (and heartbreaking at times) hearing the stories of the different orangutans.
Our guide Dorrita was knowledgeable about both places. Being from the Iban tribe herself, she was particularly well-placed to shed light on many aspects of tribal culture.
