A voucher is not a ticket

Be sure to look for the ticket hut that says "voucher" , not the regular ticket office. You will still need to stand in line for the voucher, but it's a much shorter line than the regular ticket line.

Excellent museum

It's best to buy tickets online. Otherwise you need to buy them outside (in the rain...). Or - there's a ticket machine inside... Note that you must deposit bags at the entrance. The museum itself is large with many great works of art. This isn't the MET in NYC or the Louvre in Paris, but for art lovers (especially on a stormy day...) it's a very nice experience

If you only visit one museum in Vienna make it this one. It reveals how breathtaking the wealth of the Hapsburg Empire was. A couple of hours will pass in a flash!

You’ve been to all the major art museums, this is the one that completes the picture. Two hours is enough for your first visit…fyi we visited a second time within days and learned even more.

The gardens are wonderful. We enjoyed the state rooms too and I recommend the palace for a great day out steeped in history
