Overview

Enjoy a 13-hour trip to one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Bernina TRAIN railway, passing before along Lake Como and a beautiful Alpine valley. We stop in a charming lakeshore village and, possibly, later by a winery or old cellar experience or a cafè! In Tirano you have around one hour for your lunch and then we board the Bernina TRAIN that climbs the Swiss Alps. We get off at one the highest point to enjoy snowcaps and glaciers view. (JUST IN CASE OF SEVERE WEATHER CONDITION WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REACH THIS POINT AND SWITCH TO ONLY A PARTIAL RIDE OF THE BERNINA TRAIN) Afterward we head to St. Moritz where you have about 45 minutes to explore this fashionable resort, one of the most well known in the world. At the end of it we go back to Lake Como, through another spectacular valley in Switzerland, from where you board either the regular train or the minibus for a ride on your return to Milan. TRAVELERS MUST HAVE A GOOD PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL!

VALID PAPER PASSPORTS ARE REQUIRED! Climb the stairs inside the Station all the way to the upper floor until you are right before the gates to enter the tracks and meet our guide in charge just outside the entrance of the BAR CENTRALE (NOT bistrot Centrale) at 08:00 am in front of the gate "C".

    Transfer either by regional train or minibus from Milan Central station to a town on Lake Como

    30-minute walking (there might be some stairs) of a picturesque and lovely little town on the lake

    Driving along part of the Lake shore and then through Valtellina valley for a total of 1.5 hours

  • Valtelline Valley

    Quick stop either in a quaint town of the valley or in a winery or in a cafè

  • Tirano

    Getting off the minibus and then we have to climb some stairs to reach the Bernina station with free time for your lunch (on your own)

    Bernina TRAIN ride on the Bernina Express railway getting off on the highest point of the journey! In the winter we get off at Diavolezza stop!

  • Berninapass (Pass By)

    Driving toward S. Moritz

    We walk for 10 minutes along the small alpine lake then some stairs to get to the escalator to reach the sloping downtown for about 30 minutes of free time to explore this well known town!

Absolutely perfect day trip!

We met Paola in the Central Station, directions to find her were very clear. She was very welcoming and friendly. Throughout the whole trip she was very knowledgeable and really made the experience for us. The trip was amazing, very punctual, very informative and we had plenty of time for photos and scheduled toilet stops were perfect too! The stop at Lake Como was brilliant, such a beautiful place, but it needs to be visited for longer to appreciate it all. The Bernina train itself was absolutely fantastic, Paola told us when every view of interest was coming and which way to look for it, and she took some lovely photos of us too. We were very lucky with the weather, not a cloud in the sky and snow up at the top too made it perfect. We could not fault the trip at all, definitely recommend to anyone.

A perfect day - not to be missed! Luca was an amazing guide and truely and kind and knowledgable host. He took good care of all in our small group and made sure everyone was having an amazing experience. Every detail was taken care of down to even stopping for a snack enroute back at the end of the day! We enjoyed every part of the day with Luca and the driver was excellent as well. The Italian and Swiss alps did not disappoint and the stop along Lake Como was the perfect amount of time for photos and to get a sense of the town. Luca knew what train cars were the best for the ride to St Moritz and also knew the best places for us to grab hot coco or pastries as well as so much history and knowledge. We were sad we didn’t have time in Milan to join another tour with Luca - he is the best guide we ever could have asked for and made our trip to Italy everything we hoped it would be! Thank you Luca!
