Overview

You’ll start by sailing from Hobart to Mona on one of their super-flash ferries (featuring onboard bars if you want to get the wine flowing early). Once you land you’ll begin your self-guided exploration of the museum and grounds—working up an appetite for a delicious lunch of fresh, locally sourced produce in one of our on-site restaurants (featuring a matched Moorilla wine). Fed and watered, you’ll meet with your expert Moorilla host, who’ll walk you down to the vineyard, covering the rich history of Moorilla and the finer points of our winemaking techniques as you go. The stroll will wind up back at the sun-drenched Moorilla cellar door, where you’ll settle in for some further tasting of the Moorilla range, before heading back to Hobart on the early evening 5pm ferry. A minimum of 2 travellers is required to confirm a booking.

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

We love it

Published on Feb, 2025

You will either love it or hate it - a statement of the obvious. On the four or so times we have visited, we loved it. It would be no small undertaking to build a museum and then to populate it with artwork. Critics might reflect on that. The fact that this largely one man's vision and that he has built it and funded it himself, is extraordinary. I imagine the great artists of our time visiting and loving it. MONA is a challenge to navigate, to engage, to make sense of. But all great galleries are likewise. We think MONA is David Walsh's great gift to the people of Hobart. To Tasmania. And to Australia. We will let you discover the artworks, it's up to you. That's the whole point. My only negative comment is that is some spaces, like that enclosing Sir Sidney Nolen's "Snake", commercial initiatives have impacted on the viewing of the artwork (arrays of musical instruments were being set up on the day we visited).

Interesting & educational experience

Thank you MONA for an interesting experience into modern art of today, yesterday & I feel the future of modern art. Lots of thoughts were running through our heads whilst viewing each incredible piece. You certainly need an open mind. But the architecture of the museum is 2nd to none! Magnificent!

Fantastic Time!

Published on Jul, 2024

My partner and I had a lovely time - it started with a ferry ride (which was very cold!) then we headed into MONA for a few hours. Personally, I wouldn't go back to MONA as the art is not what I like. We were then able to have a lovely meal paired with some Moorilla wine which was divine. I enjoyed the meal and it was very pretty too! We then had our wine tour, which was not too much of a wine tour but more of a wine tasting compared to experiences I've had in the past. This is overall a very self-guided experience, apart from the wine tasting where someone speaks to you briefly and introduces some wines to you - this is the experience my partner and I both wanted so we loved it!

Unique, quirky, delicious!

Published on Mar, 2024

Had such a fantastic day on this experience. MONA was a sight to behold with something different and even quirky around every corner! The building itself and grounds are amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the Moorilla Wines experience. Lunch in The Source Restaurant was different and delicious, and the vineyard walk and wine tasting with Emily was a treat. It felt the staff we encountered loved working here which just tops off the experience.

MONA - Not for Sheeple.

Published on Nov, 2023

If you are visiting Hobart, allocate a day for experiencing MONA. It's the perfect destination for all hearts creative, curious, and fascinated by architecture. A highlight for me was hearing staff insights about the man behind the vision...As intriguing as the location! Go, go, go!
