I was tasked with showing my husband and parents around New Orleans in a single day, so it was definitely a truncated, highlights-only itinerary. We took a stroll around the French Quarter in the morning and then I booked this afternoon tour because the starting point at a local bakery where my parents could grab a bite beforehand seemed perfect.
It was a little more humid than expected (yes, I know it's New Orleans), so by the end, my folks were a bit tired, but they managed the uneven sidewalks. Lucky for us, it wound up being a private tour, so we didn’t feel like we had to rush and my dad, who is hard of hearing, was close enough to hear most of what our lovely guide Renee was saying.
I’d wandered around the Garden District during my first visit to the Crescent City and I marveled at the beautiful and decaying mansions but having a guide who could point out architectural features and celebrity homes made the experience much more enjoyable.
